Can anyone tell me why under-23 teams can field players older than 23?

This was a friendly and the under 23s are what replaced the traditional reserve sides.
As a result the league had a rule that the squad cab have 3 outfield players over 23 and one keeper also over 23.

I believe the whole thing was done as a driver to help develop more youth talent by forcing teams to lower the age of their reserve team squads

No reserve fixtures as there used to be so it's a way for injured players to get the match fitness they need.

The rules are below:

Made up for Forshaw. There’s a Bielsa player in there.

I thought the club might cut their losses with Forshaw.
Once again though, they stuck with and believed in
someone I and others had given up on. Really hope
he makes a full comeback.
