Yeah I think so RnR, crucial time with season tickets as well.

No harm to Kennedy but if he got it then it would be an admission that they couldn't get anyone else.

‘ Doesn't mean Celtic have done anything wrong but it set an expectation that as soon as the LSE was opened last week he was going to be announced.’

Has this happened before? That we’ve made an announcement about a new manager through the LSE first thing in the morning, but not announced through any media channels until later that same day?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No idea POV but not sure it was meant like that. Think it was more than as Celtic are a PLC they would need to register the appointment with the LSE so wouldn't make anything official until they could do that. Think the expectation from many I saw is that he was to be announced last Tuesday and the bank holiday was the only thing holding it up.

Performances have dropped off quite a bit since we won the league. Not really complaining as it's natural and ultimately even in third gear we have come unscathed against the second and third best teams in the country. Only concern is that level of intensity and form isn't something you can turn on and off, so will make it tougher for the cup game on Sunday.

See Eddie Howe is now speaking to Palace, not sure how that one will go. If it's true the hold up is that Celtic are not willing to give him his own backroom coaching staff then I've no sympathy really, but if he's holding them to ransom over bringing in his choice of DoF they are 100% right not to give in to that demand.

Biggest frustration for them will be how publicly it's played out as that helps no one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It hasn't played out publicly.
There's nothing from Celtic and nothing from Howe.

Idle speculation from an ill-informed media isn't really things playing out publicly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps nothing official, but the speculation was enough for Howe's representatives to deny news coming from Glasgow and clearly from someone within the club that it was "a done deal".

Doesn't mean Celtic have done anything wrong but it set an expectation that as soon as the LSE was opened last week he was going to be announced. When it gets to a week later and nothing has happened it creates a bit of anxiety with people and puts Howe in more of a position of power.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly...ill-informed speculation.

And despite your ridiculous claim, it's not 'clear' that anything came from within the club.

And the SE announcement was a red herring that came from ill-Phil trying to appear knowledgeable. Surprised at bears falling for that.

Bad football games are better than a good funeral imo
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was at a funeral before for an ex-work colleague. Not someone I was close too.

It seems weird to say it - it was a great funeral.

It was a humanist ceremony and a real celebration of his life. A real mixture of humour, music, stories and emotion.

Usually by this point the letters are out as we pay the first installment on them end of May.......must be pushing it back this year. There's no way they get 55k renewing again anyway but if there's still no outcome on the manager or they give it to Kennedy then they will see a massive drop.

I reckon alot of the players actually hated Lennon in the end up and that's why it got so bad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They like Kennedy and didnt like the way Lennon treated him. Especially after Strachan came in.
The whole thing was a fiasco

posted on 12/4/21

Thank god that's the last we'll ever see of Lennon involved at Celtic again.

Don't know what's ridiculous about it Magnum, people within the club were cited as the ones saying a deal was imminent. It seemed clear enough for Howe's representatives to feel the need to issue a statement denying anything was close.

But I'm not really all that bothered about getting in to a debate on where the numerous stories that Howe was imminent would come from. The reality is it played out publicly enough for him to feel a need to reject any notion that he was close to becoming Manager.

I wouldn’t read into things too much then if you’re taking your lead from guys that think the LSE being shut is what’s holding up any appointment.

I think what’s more the case is that we’re more likely to make any appointment public after our new Obersturmführer is in place next week. I’m working from nothing other than my own logic.

Fair enough POV but it's what many fans thought and perhaps unfairly in that case.

Remember one particular article online last week where Barry Ferguson asked what the hold up was and there was a number of comments questioning his intelligence because nothing could happen until the LSE opened back up.

It would make sense for anything to be announced after the new guy starts.

What I’m meaning is that there’s been nothing from the club directly about Howe, all just sources, and nothing direct from Howe, just his agent basically doing his job by responding to speculation?!

I’ve seen a number of fans say the same thing-it’s like that saying if you repeat a lie often enough.

The LSE thing about our announcements has been kicking about for years, and I’ve never seen it been the case. Could well be wrong, but we’ve tended to know before the LSE.

People within the club know what's going on and have done for weeks so they wouldn't be making daft statements to the media.

Sutton, Hartson and Davie Provan arent like big DJ...they don't actually work for the club

Kennedy is going OK but is not suddenly becoming a genuine option.

IMO he is un-Lennoning the players. They look fresh and capable of playing football. Same thing happened when Lennon took over, he took a while to remove the Rodgers era footballing ability from the players.

Fed up with that guff.

They didnt alert the SE on a saturday afternoon before they got in the showers with Lennon.

Could it be all about the timing. With this weekend being the last chance of silverware if celtic got the cup announce howe 24 hours later, try to give the tic fans a boost.
If celtic win announce howe, give the celtic fans a double celebration and season books go through the roof.

Club have had talks with Howe and they have reached a very advanced stage. What appears to be the holding block is him wanting to bring in his own DoF. It has to be an absolute non starter for the club and if he insists on it; off to Palace or elsewhere he goes.

I'd imagine his agent will still be trying to "tout" him around with other EPL clubs to do nothing more than try and drive the price up, That's his job after all.

Behind the scenes he must surely have been given an indication of the kind of money available to him as we look certain to have to make a few decent signings.

Quicker Celtic appoint the Man City chap as DoF the better, if he is indeed the preferred target. It'll settle things down quickly and any potential manager will know exactly what he's coming into.

If Howe doesn't come, I'm not that particularly bothered to be honest. I just have the nagging doubt he is being hyped up way beyond his actual abilities, but as I've said before he's probably the highest standard we can hope for.

I don’t think any season books will go through the. Roof regardless of manager at either club
Big decision to pay £plenty to sit in hoose on a $hitey stream
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not so sure. Think Rangers will sell out quickly but we will sell dependent purely upon having a decent manager in place early enough,

Things are starting to improve on the outlook front although I still don't expect full capacities in either of the OF grounds next year. Our lives are being force fed scare messages and grim outcomes on a far too regular basis now.

Kennedy was always going to be manager until the end of the season.
Barring something completely unforeseen that's what will happen.
It's what the club want. It's a great opportunity for him to get the experience of managing the club and for them to assess him.
Its everyone's intention that he will be the manager at some point.
In the meantime the new manager is keeping a low profile, assessing the squad, looking at transfers, planning pre-season, etc.

That's it.

Ginger like I said earlier if he's trying to call the shots with the DoF Celtic are right to hold out and reject. Should be brought to an end sooner rather than later though, it helps no one if it drags on.
