Ramadan Mubarak to all.

I'm due to take the vaccine in a couple of weeks. Would I be able to fast or is it better if I don't?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep taking the vaccine doesn’t affect your fast because it’s injected into your muscle, not your vein.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What jab are you having? With Pfizer there is no side effects other than the sore arm but the Astra Zenica does lead to headaches, fever for some and the recommendation is to take some paracetamol after the injection.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I heard the second Pfizer jab can make you feel pretty rough, for what it’s worth.

I haven't been jabbed yet, and I'm banned from AZ.

I probably mistook what Yorkshire Red had asked, I thought he was asking if taking the vaccine will break your fast. I guess he was talking about the side affects of it after taking it.

It won't break your fast and there is nothing stopping you from taking the cautious approach and not fast that day. I've got my 2nd Pfizer jab booked during Ramadan and I won't be fasting that day as Clockwork mentioned it does make you feel rough. I'm also driving from Manchester to Leicester to take it.

Do you need to ask for permission for such exceptions as this or has guidance been issued, given the global nature of the pandemic and vaccination scheme? Or is it just up to the individual as to what they would see as being an exceptional reason to not fast for a day? Sorry if that seems ignorant, but it's just something I have no knowledge of.

Happy Ramadan to all those participating by the way!

Nah no permission needed mate. It's just when I make up the fast I miss it will not be in the holy month so less rewarding but still rewarding nevertheless.

Kash’s fast will automatically break anyway as he is driving a certain amount of distance away from his home.

Travel does not break fast

Happy Ramadan. I imagine the fasting done must be great for weight loss.

Travelling doesn't break the fast. However a traveller who's Travelling more than 48 miles is allowed to eat.

No, if you’re feeling ill you don’t have to fast though.

Happy Ramadan.

Sorry is this sounds a lazy question, but can someone explain the history/symbolism of ramadan and fasting? Is it similar to lent?

What if you are a taxi driver? Does that mean on work days you can just ignore it? Or is it 48 miles in one journey that’s reset after stops?
