It's not even your running when not in possession. The movement of your midfield and full backs with your attacking patterns is right up there with the best in the league. That'll add to distance covered too.
Been very impressed with Leeds this season to the point I'd happily take Bielsa if klopp left.

Good points. Like all decent teams the players that run to open up gaps for others is a big factor in distance covered as well - as is attacking and defending in numbers.
You’re not having Bielsa though
Biesla is a bit like Klopp in the sense that he asks his players to give everything and more. It's only sustainable in the long term if you keep freshening the squad each summer, something that Klopp has failed at with Dortmund and currently Liverpool. Still time to turn things around though.

Yet we’ve done it for a third season now with basically the same players. A famous young lady got lots of interesting replies for saying that Bielsa’s teams always run out of steam after Xmas and that the lockdown helped us last season. A theme that many pundits keep churning out.
It’s really more about fitness - and we are as fit as any team in the country. Hence the players can do it week in week out - and still break away and score after 90 mins against the best team in the country. In fact we finished the much stronger team after 50 mins with 10 men.
If I could choose one player who looks like he might have been close to burn out it would be Klich. His time on the bench though might just be the fact he’s not quite good enough for the PL.
however if we had another on the pitch maybe we would've run more?

Because we are new to the division after a 16 year absence and have had terrible look with defensive injuries. I was expecting us to lose more than we have, so clearly we have pushed on quite a lot more than most expected.
The future is unknown. Maybe we will struggle. Alternatively, we might sign the players, get better luck with injury, and properly kick on. I think there's more room to do that with how we play and our resources than some of the turgid football most of the PL seems to play.

Probably. I think the game against you is a difficult example, because going 2-0 down so early (granted through poor midfield awareness and lack of tracking runners), there isn't really an option to play reserved, as we have to try and work back a 2 goal defecit. Obviously didn't work so well there, but been other games, especially in the championship, where it has.
I've always believed that it is easier to make that progression when you play attacking football over defensive. The PL has a long pedigree of teams over achieving with dfensive football (Burnley, Sheffield United in recent years), but they inevitably drop off the year after, because its difficult to A.) recruit for that system, and B.) to keep those standards up when you're constantly on the back foot.
I think we seem to have improved defensively as the season has gone on (coinciding with our summer signings getting back fit), so hopefully that is a sign. Although having said that we will probably get spanked the next two games . A lot will come down to recruitment in the summer, and hopefully we land that better than Sheff United did last year.

our rise is steady. we need to improve a little each window. our buys last window were to stabilize the cb position. they finally got to play together after being injured most of the season.
most leeds fans would tell you we are not ready for top six. it would just be too much for our small squad.

this goes back to not going gung ho every game though.
city had 29 shots against you guys at the weekend.
yes you were down to 10 men and like i said before, more enforced than through choice but played deeper than you likely would have, but it went to show that you dont have to play the high press and marauding football in every game you play, as the better teams will likely pick you off.
in my opinion all thats needed is tweaks here and there.. youve proven in that one game that you can defend well and hit on the break when it matters.
i just think this tactic in a few more games this season would have resulted in a few more points, because lets be honest.. you are only 7 points away from the top 6 now.

majority of managers make mistakes or they would never be sacked, our tactics are spot on for me atm, bielsa is learning the pl give the man time, you have no idea what he has done for leeds utd lad

i think you may be right about the fact we could have had a few more points this year if we changed the way we play. at the same time i have to say its the way we get the most out of this team.
staying on the front foot covers up some of our liabilities.
the game against city was the first we had a full complement of cb's in the team. well until cooper was sent off that is.
while playing 11 aside city had 1 harmless shot on goal and eight or nine over the bar from some distance. they didn't have a clear shot on goal from close range until the goal.
at the end meslier made one great save all game. otherwise he did what you would expect a good keeper to do.
we will see in the next two games how well we have progressed defensively. but i dont see you scoring 6 against us this time.

i remember after the utd game, nearly every pundit said exactly the same thing, they pretty much all said credit to leeds for pushing forward and still looking for goals, but you cant do that against every team you play, and they were right

this goes back to not going gung ho every game though.
city had 29 shots against you guys at the weekend.
yes you were down to 10 men and like i said before, more enforced than through choice but played deeper than you likely would have, but it went to show that you dont have to play the high press and marauding football in every game you play, as the better teams will likely pick you off.
in my opinion all thats needed is tweaks here and there.. youve proven in that one game that you can defend well and hit on the break when it matters.
i just think this tactic in a few more games this season would have resulted in a few more points, because lets be honest.. you are only 7 points away from the top 6 now.

i think you may be right about the fact we could have had a few more points this year if we changed the way we play. at the same time i have to say its the way we get the most out of this team.
staying on the front foot covers up some of our liabilities.
the game against city was the first we had a full complement of cb's in the team. well until cooper was sent off that is.
while playing 11 aside city had 1 harmless shot on goal and eight or nine over the bar from some distance. they didn't have a clear shot on goal from close range until the goal.
at the end meslier made one great save all game. otherwise he did what you would expect a good keeper to do.
we will see in the next two games how well we have progressed defensively. but i dont see you scoring 6 against us this time.

It's not even your running when not in possession. The movement of your midfield and full backs with your attacking patterns is right up there with the best in the league. That'll add to distance covered too.
Been very impressed with Leeds this season to the point I'd happily take Bielsa if klopp left.

Yet we’ve done it for a third season now with basically the same players. A famous young lady got lots of interesting replies for saying that Bielsa’s teams always run out of steam after Xmas and that the lockdown helped us last season. A theme that many pundits keep churning out.
It’s really more about fitness - and we are as fit as any team in the country. Hence the players can do it week in week out - and still break away and score after 90 mins against the best team in the country. In fact we finished the much stronger team after 50 mins with 10 men.
If I could choose one player who looks like he might have been close to burn out it would be Klich. His time on the bench though might just be the fact he’s not quite good enough for the PL.

Because we are new to the division after a 16 year absence and have had terrible look with defensive injuries. I was expecting us to lose more than we have, so clearly we have pushed on quite a lot more than most expected.
The future is unknown. Maybe we will struggle. Alternatively, we might sign the players, get better luck with injury, and properly kick on. I think there's more room to do that with how we play and our resources than some of the turgid football most of the PL seems to play.

Probably. I think the game against you is a difficult example, because going 2-0 down so early (granted through poor midfield awareness and lack of tracking runners), there isn't really an option to play reserved, as we have to try and work back a 2 goal defecit. Obviously didn't work so well there, but been other games, especially in the championship, where it has.
I've always believed that it is easier to make that progression when you play attacking football over defensive. The PL has a long pedigree of teams over achieving with dfensive football (Burnley, Sheffield United in recent years), but they inevitably drop off the year after, because its difficult to A.) recruit for that system, and B.) to keep those standards up when you're constantly on the back foot.
I think we seem to have improved defensively as the season has gone on (coinciding with our summer signings getting back fit), so hopefully that is a sign. Although having said that we will probably get spanked the next two games . A lot will come down to recruitment in the summer, and hopefully we land that better than Sheff United did last year.

we have had a few drubbings this season i believe the foxes where the 1st to rub our nose init & clearly remember rodgers saying' we won cos we know how to play leeds' then oops we beat them in the return game.
it is 1 thing knowing but winning is different.
not 1 leeds fan thinks we will be ready to push on for top 6 even in the next few years but we have had a cracking 1st season

yes city had 29 shots, we had many games like that last season, far too many.
yup a few tweeks & getting good deals
majority of managers make mistakes or they would never be sacked, our tactics are spot on for me atm, bielsa is learning the pl give the man time, you have no idea what he has done for leeds utd lad

you have lost as many games as you have won this season which would suggest your style isnt as foolproof as you suggest.
your mate is wrong in that you run around like headless chickens, however i would suggest that as good as people claim Bielsa is, with him at the helm and the lack of diversity within his tactics, you will struggle to really push on

why? i don't think you've really been watching dunc.
our rise is steady. we need to improve a little each window. our buys last window were to stabilize the cb position. they finally got to play together after being injured most of the season.
most leeds fans would tell you we are not ready for top six. it would just be too much for our small squad.
maybe next year though.

yes you were down to 10 men and like i said before, more enforced than through choice but played deeper than you likely would have, but it went to show that you dont have to play the high press and marauding football in every game you play, as the better teams will likely pick you off.
in my opinion all thats needed is tweaks here and there.. youve proven in that one game that you can defend well and hit on the break when it matters.
i just think this tactic in a few more games this season would have resulted in a few more points, because lets be honest.. you are only 7 points away from the top 6 now.

i think you may be right about the fact we could have had a few more points this year if we changed the way we play. at the same time i have to say its the way we get the most out of this team.
staying on the front foot covers up some of our liabilities.
the game against city was the first we had a full complement of cb's in the team. well until cooper was sent off that is.
while playing 11 aside city had 1 harmless shot on goal and eight or nine over the bar from some distance. they didn't have a clear shot on goal from close range until the goal.
at the end meslier made one great save all game. otherwise he did what you would expect a good keeper to do.
we will see in the next two games how well we have progressed defensively. but i dont see you scoring 6 against us this time.

im not saying Bielsa should be fired or he isnt the right man for the job for you guys, ive never said that.
i would expect a manager of his experience though to maybe be a bit more diverse in his approach to certain games.
you say he is learning the pl, but he is an experienced manager who has managed all over the world and at international level, it shouldnt really be taking this long for him to think.. this tactic isnt going to work in ever game.
i remember after the utd game, nearly every pundit said exactly the same thing, they pretty much all said credit to leeds for pushing forward and still looking for goals, but you cant do that against every team you play, and they were right

2 shots 2 goals, what a stat!..
I wonder what'd be if Bielsa was in charge of one of the so called top six!..
He'd play exactly how he is with Leeds, but, when people rave on about Raphinha those teams are full of his sort!..
We've a team that came from the Championship and outside of 4 new players are x-Championship players!..
With some 1st Div players!..
Nowhere near the 600-800 million the top clubs are worth!..
I think a lot of the over paid eggs without shells in the top six would be to scared to go to work under Bielsa, he'd have them working for their money!..

germany, said a while back bielsa has at last found a club/team/squad he has dreamed of all his life & i don't think he will pass up this opportunity just yet, every single player has bought in & we are reaping the rewards, as we all know just need a few additions.

I think this is true. I'm not sure he'd do as well at a more established Prem side with players with egos and lifestyles. Would they play murderball in training and be willing to run themselves into the ground again on matchday? not sure many would.
