Actually we had 24 games with higher expected goals in 17/18 season but most of them were close hence the low expected points.

RR

One can only hope but I'm not holding my breathe because we've been in this kind of situation a few times before this season and looked so deflated the next game.

As you've said though, the 2nd half against Spurs was a bit different to how we'd normally find a way through in games, even in some of our better performances this season.

The attack looked better structured, there was more clarity, conviction and there was a connection to our play which made it look like the players were all on a similar wavelength for once.

Fingers crossed we do build on this.

What’s surprising is that we’ve managed to win so many games without Martial and Greenwood being on form - it’s a testament to Rashford and Bruno in particular, but the whole of the squad have contributed big goals at times this season to get the wins.

The end of last season, there was lots of talk about those three emulating Liverpool’s front three - as they had statistically outperformed them I think - and now they’ve all actually scored fewer prem goals than Salah has on his own.

It does show that relying on unproven forwards has its drawbacks - we cannot assume they’ll develop linearly due to their age - but I guess it’s worth considering that because development isn’t linear they could actually get back to that level in another season.

Martial’s a curious case. I’m not the biggest fan, and Cavani has shown what a quality cf can provide for the team, but I still think we generally perform better when he starts than when he doesn’t. And I don’t think he’ll be nearly as bad as this next season.

Rashford, Martial and Greenwood are all best at wide forwards, plus we have James, Ahmad, plus Pogba has been wry good when used on the Left.

We definitely need a CF over a winger

I would like Cavani to stay, if not I would like a proper no: 9 yes but I’d prioritise a proper RW over it without any doubt whatsoever. We’re totally lob sided ffs.

And what would be the wingers role within the team?

Rashford Haaland Greenwood

Or

Rashford Greenwood Sancho

Which frontline would score more?

We seem to be a 2nd half team. We absolutely battered Brighton and Tottenham in the 2nd half after a slow 1st half.
