I've also written a couple of articles about how a top striker is always a plus, think RVP in 2013.
But I'm hoping Cavani and especially Greenwood will fill that role. And we are so lopsided without a RW.
How do we feel about one of each, a stopgap RW until Amad is ready, and à CF if there is one available.

There are a lot of unknowns. Will Cavani stay? Will Greenwood come on again - in either position? Will Martial return to form? And, as Sat Nav says, which CF is available?

We have moments of cohesion up front but it’s far from regular, it mostly individual moments as we all know. A proper RW could change that.

I’d love a Cavani 5 years ago don’t get wrong but we see it with current Cavani, our team isn’t supplying him enough. Ole has to hold special meetings to explain to him how to find him. Cavani himself had to explain to Greenwood that he needs to give it quicker and he’ll be there (massive credit to Greenwood because he’s young but within minutes of Cavani explaining that, he whipped in the cross first touch and got the assist for Cavani’s goal).

But who we gonna sign as a CF Clock? The big names won’t happen for several reasons and I don’t want a potential or a 7/10. We don’t need squad level we need proper title winning XI players at this stage, our squad is good enough already.

I’d want to see

Sancho or Raphina Greenwood/Martial Rashy/Martial

I think players playing in their natural position is better than having an upgraded CF but then having one of our three playing in a compromised position.

After a season of that, then the ideal is then to get a CF too 😂😂😂. Not sure who though because a Haaland or Mbappe won’t happen I don’t think. Maybe Kane next year perhaps but he’d be 29 and I doubt Levy would take a haircut on the fee.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s the big question - which CF? Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand the RW argument and would be pretty excited if we got a Sancho. But I fear that Martial will always blow hot and cold, and Cavani’s diving headers have made me pine for a classic CF

The only thing I’m completely non negotiable on is this it has to be a top top player that’s clearly first XI material. No potential or 7/10. If one of those is available as a CF then great, likewise RW. But I won’t be happy with another square peg in a round hole.
We might get last year’s martial back with a sick little RW and with 20+ from him and Rashy with say 10-15 from the RW and circa 20 from Bruno - that’s PLENTY of goals, plenty. Then we have the mighty Fred to add on top 😂

Fk it let’s just get both 😂

You’re right Cavani has reminded us what having a classic, classy and proper CF gives us. But it’s just been so long since we had something proper on the right. Over ten years!!

It’s all fine because apparently we’re swapping Pogba for Ronaldo.

Not seen anything special about Amad thus far

Could be another waste of resources from poor scouting

I firmly believe if a top, top player that we need becomes available, United could do it.

Like Sancho last summer?

Did we actually bid for Sancho?

You know, I remember having a very similar chat with a fellow called RDD last summer but he seems to have vanished.

Anyway, a few things have happened since then that have made me really want a CF:

1) The glimpses of Cavani and what he can do
2) Martial’s loss of form
3) The signing of Amad (and Pellistri)

I don’t know how much Amad will feature next season but could he and Mason share the RW, with James as well? The counter is that Mason isn’t a natural wide-man and our whole attack is compromised by that area. But we don’t have a CF I’d now want to rely on either, as much as I like Martial (I doubt Cavani will stay).

So, if we can only get one, I feel a bit more inclined towards a CF than I did last summer.

Bruno just behind

Greenwood CF Rashford

excites me more than

RW Martial Rashford

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is exactly where I'm at. Last summee I'd have said Sancho, but this summer I think a proper no. 9 is needed. Unless Ole decides to go balls out and make Greenwood his main man. Even then we probably need another striker if Cavani leaves.

posted on 13/4/21

Martial is too inconsistent

Greenwood is unproven at CF and has done very well on the Right.

Rashford is best from the Left.

We also have Amad, James and Pellestri who can play wide.

We need a top CF if we are to close the gap on City further. Who is upto the club.

Don't get confused between do we need one, and can you name one / do you think we will sign player X,Y or Z.

Renew Cavani’s contract and sign Grealish would be my preference choice.

Striker/centre forward first.

United have enough creativity in midfield. Not a lot of point in getting more if all they have to work with are wastrels and n'er do wells like rashford.

Greenwood has done OK, but he's not a winger, I've never seen him beat a man on the outside and whip in a cross, he likes the cut in.
Greenwood is more proven as a striker than Amad is as a winger

posted on 14/4/21

Greenwood has done better than OK from the Right. OK he likes to cut in, but most 'wingers' do nowadays. Does Sancho hug the touchline on the Right and whip in crosses?

As for your Greenwood / Amad point, I'm not sure how you are qualifying that seeing as we have seen very little of them at CF and RW as yet.
