If you have an all red background, and your teammates all play in red, then you make it more difficult to distinguish them. No one is saying they blend in with the background and they are invisible. But if you need to look a second longer before you pass a ball, it definitely has a big impact on your game.

It’s not really. Think of turning quickly and having a split second to spot a team mate, possibly identified first in peripheral vision because a red object is flagged to your brain, what if that red object was in front of a huge red object? Makes it harder right? We aren’t talking about Sunday league here, players operate at a far far higher reaction time, and also knowing the area where a team mate should be.
