Would I watch if we were playing Barca? Probably at first, but I wouldn’t care half as much. And the longer the ‘super league’ went on the less I’d care. Certainly won’t be paying to go anymore. Can’t even begin to think about how I’d feel about United if they were no longer part of the English league set up. I would be finished then completely.

Spending a fair bit of time in Chesterfield lately for work and visiting parents so I’d go and watch them in their fight to get promoted back up the leagues. Went to games at Saltergate back in the day as a kid with my Uncle quite a bit if I wasn’t at OT with my dad.

I think if it goes this way, it'll feel more like you/we are all just supporting businesses rather than Football clubs

Sky getting all high and mighty about it, then when the rights to the games come out they’ll be at the front of the queue.

Personally, I think it’ll get shot down.

Disgraceful from United allowing this to be put out during a United game and throwing Ole under the bus in his post match interview. But it’s only what I’ve come to expect from them to be honest.

Will I watch them if it goes ahead? Probably, I’m a United fan.

I say no at the moment to supporting Spurs but I am too emotionally invested in them just to give them up. I will wait to see how things develop but I am torn as the idea of a break away league suck but on the other UEFA are a bunch of gangsters like FIFA!

United fans on mass need to tell Woodward that this is a no go.

I hate the idea, but I still love football, and when it came down to it I would end up watching it.

No - it wouldn't be the club I fell in love with over 55 years ago!

Might just support a little domestic club like Leeds if this happened

I think if the clubs involved think the Super League will actually succeed, they are extremely naive. The most important trophy and competition at the moment in England is the premier league. Not the champions league, despite the TV money, it's the premier league that counts. If these clubs leave they will regret it, because this country will boycott it unless it is an instant success. Every pundit, every former player, every tabloid, every broadsheet, every minister, every hack will slate this new venture. All the existing fans will hate it. They may attract some of footballs newer fans, but the money in football comes from loyalty to teams through thick and thin.

And I think abandoning your home league and country to compete in an american-style no-risk super-rich franchise will be a step too far for most fans. How many Lazio ultras are going to be abandoning their centuries long rivalries to watch European-only football...?

If this happens and Arsenal join in, I will disown the Kroenke fraud and welcome my new team, AFC Arsenal or whoever starts again at the bottom of the football league.

None of the (then) big 5 English clubs lost any support when they decided to form a breakaway 18-club "Premier League" back in the early 90s.

The intentions back then were the same as they are now.

All the money in the breakaway Premier league would only be divided between the clubs active in that division whilst in the previous arrangement it was shared between all Football League clubs across all divisions.

The PL has always been a private shop that gets to veto its members, and purely exists to funnel the lion's share of TV money to a small core of ringleaders.

City hammer us?

Could have sworn they haven't beaten us in the league for nearly 3 years.

I will. Can't wait to swap Wolves, Burnley and Fulham for Barca, Juve and Real.

I remember the excitement of drawing a huge club in the CL and going to the game. Some of the best nights of my life have included following United to Munich and Madrid. The thought of that becoming the norm is very unappealing. Feels like they’re trying to steal the club off the fans. How long before Liverpool’s owners relocate their stadium to Boston? Tampa Bay United anyone?

You will literally be the Fulham of the league though. Don’t understand how any fan could welcome this idea.

Nope.

I genuinely don't understand what it will be

Will it be no more premier league for those clubs that leave
Or
Will it be in place of.champjon league?

Either way it is proper śhıț and my enthusiasm for football overall (which has been sitting on the fence for a few years now Will be very much in the gutter

I've been a big fan of MMA for a very long time now and I think all my enthusiasm and attention will go towards that, moving forward

Even if its a no go, the fact that these clubs think they're so much better than the clubs they'd leave behind reaffirms everything that has been running football for years which is greed and money

Yet Fulham still have fans. By your logic any team that isn't in the top half should find a new club. How can they welcome the idea of supporting a team that won't do well?

And then they will just play games in Dubai, Qatar, US, where they can fill the stadiums and get the money.

Just like the NFL - if you can get more money somewhere else, move the club there.

Looks like the no relegation thing is taken from the American sports model of a closed league. It definitely creates a higher quality of game. Maybe PL/FA should’ve thought a long while back to limit the ownership model to German one to prevent this.
