Will you support your break away club?

The proposal is disgusting and I hope that the governing bodies take action (including possible points deductions) against the Clubs involved and yes that includes us if (as reported) we are involved. It is simply wrong on so many levels.

I'd most likely be done with football and would just work harder at being crap at golf

So if, say, Manchester United broke away, they couldn't play in the Premier League, FA Cup or League Cup?

A: In theory, yes. They have the power to do that, though it would likely end up in court. There's a legal case to be made that if you're a governing body and a competition organiser (which FIFA, UEFA and the FAs are), you can't exclude somebody from participating. So that part remains to be seen. But I think their best strategy, if they want to stop it, is to wait it out ...

how could man utd play in the fa cup if they don't play in the pyramid?

With rumours that there would be £2 billion to share out between the 6 clubs, I can see why Levy would be all over this, a £350m windfall (or therabouts) does a lot of talking for somebody as frugal as him. I hope they relegate all 6 clubs, that will teach the bald caant.

united players will take a dive to ensure a bigger slice of that pie, and spurs will get done over by the refs to ensure that they get nothing, so you and danny boy may end up disappointed

I don't think anybody will give up supporting their clubs, let alone give up supporting football altogether. It will just a very, very negative step that fans will obviously be against, but I can hardly say I blame the clubs from a financial perspective when they will all end up receiving something like £550m considering the losses accumulated during this pandemic. Not that it makes it anymore morally right of course.

We will all still watch football, arguably we would be watching "better quality" matches as well, but of course it's not done for the right reasons.

Unfortunately, I think it's a case where it suits the decision-makers and many shareholders and stakeholders within a club, other than probably fans.

I'm afraid this fan will!!!!

I will. Can't wait to swap Wolves, Burnley and Fulham for Barca, Juve and Real.

Rumours has ir that £399m will be shared between the Super League Teams every season on top of gate receipts and other merchandise sale and exhibition games abroad probably Asia.

I wouldnt be surprised if this is just a move to put pressure on the decision makers and make sure the proposed CL changes are approved.

These 6 clubs want CL every season, and increasing the size of the tournament increases their chances of that.

hmm huddersfield vs neuchatal in the champions league final could be amusing though

Sounds like it’d just be a boring league. You can’t go down, and don’t progress to another competition if you win it, like the CL. It’ll just feel like a glammed up Emirates cup. Part of the appeal for any club in a the league is there’s a chance your club could end up competing in Europe if you do well, even for teams promoted, fans and players will be hoping that maybe after a few solid years in top flight they could improve enough to see their club compete in Europe. It’s an unlikely scenario but that hope adds to the appeal.

As an Arsenal fan now, one of the big reasons I put up with how crap we are now is that hopefully in a few years we’ll have earned our place back among the best. I don’t want our club to just be placed with them in some boring league through no achievement of our own. Yes we might get more money and buy better players, but so will everyone else, and even if we win the super league, then what.

Over saturation & lack of stakes (for the majority of the league beyond the half way point) would cripple this idea pretty quickly. The quality of the football would suffer because of that no matter how technically good it might be.

Everyone seems confused by this.

There's so little information people appear to be trying to fill in the blanks, but it seems to just be taking over the CL matchdays throughout the season with another league

They would still play domestically in the PL, and in the English FA competitions, such as the FA cup and league cup..

To whom of course the rich clubs in England did exactly this same power move against in the 90s, everyone still watches the PL, So it seems like hollow posturing that you would stop supporting your team because they move away from UEFA competitions

Personally that six or any other six can leave if to they want, I couldn't care less.

I'm not a football fan, I'm a West Ham supporter. I enjoy going to matches just as much to watch us play Leicester, Everton, Norwich, Newcastle or whoever as any as the so called big six.

From what I gather its a closed shop though.

Just the same clubs milking the system to their advantage with no prospect of.dropping out.

It's.farcical. I doubt it will happen just yet because quite rightly the domestic leagues will hopefully put their foot down.

Well it's going to be a poorer JA 606 without the big 6 contributors, but hey, if they're determined to go

Not really, I'm sure admin will open up a Super League section to keep the fans on board and entice new users. They would be foolish to miss out...

under the agreement IN PRINCIPLE they have signed up to, they dont leave the PL ffs,

This is just FIFA and UEFA rallying round to try and protect their cut, The CL and the Club world cup, Ironically by trying to claim the clubs are greedy

Now im not keen on the "No relegation" but a lot of this is just bedwetting nonsense and people filling in the blanks.

How any arsenal fan can support this I do not know. What is the point of a few extra bob in the bank if you are quite literally going to be the whipping boys in a new league; the perennial under dogs.

It’s the champions league all over again. Let the others go and let’s take up the prem title tally... when we overcome Leicester, wolves, Everton, villa, the hammers etc., of course

Spurs and Arsenal will be battling it out for the wooden spoon.

If we can't get passed Zagreb I don't think this elite European league is for us.

The vast majority (if not all) that say they'll stop supporting their club if this happens are lying through their teeth.

A lot of faux outrage as per usual because "Gary Neville said so" everyone going mad without the full details

People commenting without knowing the full facts. For a start it's alongside domestic comp. Also other teams can qualify for it.

Its exciting and something new. I'm all for it
The key thing is domestic competition is unchanged
