Too powerful, far too powerful all that will happen is they’ll generally get their way. The pl certainly won’t do anything.

Yea make an example of them, block the league, drop them to the lowest tier of football, ban them from European competition for life and when they choose the money league tell them they can never return when it goes bust cos it's a boring tedious American monopoly league

This it’s just the current greed versus another, hard to know what more the blazers can strip out of us more than they do, they even got the the club to buy itself for them

They should certainly get a points deduction if they can't be banned.

Maybe a -30 point start for every team that participates in the Euro League. They still get to play in the PL, but have no chance of winning it, and if they have a sh*t season, they'll get relegated then the FL has no obligation to accept them into their organisation.

Surely something like this could get ratified, going off the 14/20 majority rule the PL use.

It's a non regulated competition, they will be banned from all domestic, European and world level events if they take part, not only that, their players will not be allowed to represent their countries at international level

By non regulated, FIFA or UEFA will have to accept it, which they will not

problem is, this threat towards internationals, if you take those clubs supposedly interested into equation how many players do England France, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Spain & Portugal lose?

if Munich really do hold out then its basically a German procession every 2 years for at least the foreseeable

The fury from a company like Sky is pretty hilarious. If fans want to have a moan about greed etc then that's fine but sky will have swatted away these types of criticisms when they wanted the Premier League to be what it is.

The sanctimonious 'for the fans' act that they are coming out with just stinks of being told 'you have to squash this'. Sky don't care about the fans, they don't care about the clubs either. I recall a lot of things being said about the clubs facing punishment if they didn't finish last season because of the broadcaster payments. So for Neville to roll out the 'THERE'S A PANDEMIC, THERE'S MORE IMPORTANT THINGS!!!'. Where was that when, pre vaccine, the TV companies were going to give the clubs a hard time for not getting out there and getting on with it?

Neville has come across like an absolute shill which is disappointing because I think he's normally fairly level headed.

Not once did anybody on Sky make any case as to why it would be bad. It was like they just came out seething and are relying on an emotional reaction to get everybody on board. In fairness to them, I imagine it will work and people will be whipped up into a frenzy but they haven't even bothered to say 'this is the deal with it and this is why we think it's bad'.

Feels a bit like Brexit in that they are banking on most people not being that well informed and are playing on the emotional reaction.

For the record, I have no real opinion either way. I'm not saying this is a brilliant idea, my comments are purely addressing the manner in which Sky have reacted. Even if I agreed with them, the way they've gone about it stinks of hypocrisy and preys on the general lack of information the average viewer will probably have. Just play on the 'greed' narrative which will easily get people on board with. It's taking advantage.

Sky, a company for the people.....thats why they care, the average fan, its them that they are concerned for. Hilarious.

This is where it gets murky, surely players and their agents will be looking into legal action against clubs if their international careers are affected

Neville is spot on. It's an absolute disgrace, completely rooted in greed.

The archetypes are apparently the American owners who now have their greedy hands on clubs all over Europe.

I'm done with football if this goes through. I've supported Liverpool for 50 years, but seeing my club at the involved in this is embarrassing. F*ck you John Henry, you charlatan.

Logic dictates that (this time) this will fail, but it leaves a horrible, irremovable stain which taints all involved. Bayern and PSG have apparently declined to be involved which deserved highlighting.

Football is supposed to be about dreams, ambitions and glory. It's not a closed shop, open only to the richest and greediest. Dock them points, relegate them, ban the players from international football - anything and everything should be on the table to avert this catastrophe to the national and global game.

Is this not what the CL has been about for the last few years anyway but was beneficial for English clubs and not for other leagues? There was always a day coming where money would ruin things for English fans rather than constant benefits. Guaranteed 4 English clubs in the CL was the start. You reap what you sow if you don't stand up to it.

They will be playing a sport outside of the sport, FIFA gives the licenses for players to play internationally by competing in sanctioned competitions under their umbrella, so there will be absolutely no recourse for players to compete in a FIFA or UEFA sanctioned competition when they are not registered with them
