Doesn't really impact us in any way or 99% of clubs and countries in football.

I understand the outrage from those down south but there's also a bit of hypocrisy with it. Money changed their game a long time ago and whilst they sneered at everyone else and held on to this "best league in the World" nonsense it was all made by money from foreign owners and TV companies who had long taken it away from the working classes. A few years ago Liverpool charged £77 for a match ticket, and proposals for a 39th game have been going on for ages.

It's been going that way for a while. Leave them to it and just grateful that whilst Scottish football is a nonsense at times at least it's still fairly real and relatable.

Morning Heed.

I'm glad you started a thread to discuss this. Was worried no one else was going to.

As much as I don’t want it to happen, if it does, I have absolutely fck all sympathy for the English Premier League

This is exactly what happened in the early nineties in England with clubs breaking away from the FA and Football League.....SPL then followed suit, and eventually became a shambles when the Tv V money was no longer there

The big clubs in Europe are now trying to do the same thing with UEFA...and it’ll be the English Premier League, and their mega money TV contracts that will suffer as a result

Hell mend them

In the early 90s, the top clubs in England seen a way to make more money for themselves and went for it

In that respect, this is the same

It is the same thing. It is greed under a new competition.

FFS in England they give relegated clubs a "parachute payment". That helps ensure that the same clubs continue to buy up the rest of the best talent to get back to the closed shop of the EPL. How many "new" teams has made it to the Premier League in the past 20 years?

The ridiculous money given to English clubs from TV and billionaire owners started this all off. Man City were relegated and had the most passionate fans when playing Chesterfield in the play offs but now they boo the Champions league anthem because they can't spend billions of pounds with no incomings to match.

The likes of Sheffield United think they are a big club because they get £200m TV money a season and can spend £30m on an average player.

The English Premier league is simply the first version of the European Super League. the second version was the Champions league when 5 countries get at least half of the "CHAMPIONS" League places

They can all go fvck off to their new franchised competition and let real football continue elsewhere. Maine Rd became the Etihad, Highbury became the Emirates. It's all about franchise and money and not the supporters

If it goes ahead though it kinda makes Scotland for players/managers even less attractive. Although we rarely make it, we still need the carrot of potential CL football there against the big guns

simply put these club obviously believe the value of the CL is based on them and their fans and audiences (or customers as they refer to you as) and they are not happy that a large amount of money eludes them and props up UEFA.

Bollocks. So why guarantee participation in the Super League? That's the biggest issue here. It's non-competitive and rich getting richer. It will spoil the domestic league too because top six end up with an even bigger financial gap

"So why guarantee participation in the Super League?"

If there is no threat of relegation, there is no threat that if you have a bad season, you are out the door....the money will continue to flow if you are guaranteed to be playing in that league the following season

Have you ever heard of the NFL aye....fcking shouldve as your stadium was designed to accommodate NFL games ffs

The "big guns" will be gone to a closed shop, with players in a closed shop. The players not involved will be looking to join clubs playing in the UEFA CL, this should benefit all other clubs, not in the "closed shop" idiots league

Sky is in a strong position, they already have a contract with a league continuing the 6 ELP idiot clubs.
So there will be a legal battle for years

If this happens the EPL bubble will burst

I see the concept collapsing like a house of cards .....it will be mired in legal disputes for years......

Sky have been looking to reduce their reliance on EPL for a few years. This is actually a good chance to do that.

I for one won't be watching this rubbish. I hope it all falls apart and they all have to come back to the conference.

What's about to happen to tge other English, Spanish and Italian clubs is only whats been done to the likes of us for tge last 15 years. We're not welcome at their table, so I don't want to dine with them.

It seems likely that the reason these clubs are setting up the ESL is because they are in a great deal of debt and see this as an opportunity to get their balance sheets in better shape. The are owned mainly by distant foreigners who have clubs as their hobby.

I think it is a great chance for fans, who are the basis of these clubs, to show these owners that they cannot take away what fans have built over many years.

A show of strength in boycotting these teams ( do not subscribe to the tv channels they will be shown in) is the best option to tell these guys that they are only interested in taking money and nothing else. About time the ordinary fans stood up to these dictators.

Imagine this had happened back in 2012 and Rangers were invited to join this thing or were one of the major architects....I can't even begin to imagine the abuse that would have came our way.

For me, that's exactly what Barca and Real are doing here, the wolves are at the door and this is their out

Take yer medicine ya khunts
