The alleged 80 mil supporters is apparently down to Song, if a single player is the main reason for your inclusion you should start to worry.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
21% of South Koreans who follow footie are Spurs fans the vast majority of the 80 mil are from China.

So lets stop this silly "why are Spurs involved" talk.

Arsenal - United States

Chelsea - Russia

I think that says it all. This is quite clearly a U.S. initiative to turn our game into something more familiar to them. Imagine if we went over there telling them that we're now introducing relegation and promotion. The entitlement of some of these owners is frankly astonishing.

Whoever said it had it bang on. It's not the clubs. It's the owners. So much for the 'fit and proper person' test.

I think the entire thing is going to die.

With the Premier League and FIFA showing no signs of backing down and Europe wide political support for their position the out come is clear. With no domestic competition and no ability to play international football, let's look at what will happen...

The ESL will become like the Chinese League and the way the U.S was a few years back, some 30 something technically gifted players getting a pension with the numbers made up with 6, 7 or even 8 sub championship quality journeymen.

They will beg to come by back.

Well Tennis has a system of rankings (promotion and relegation in effect), you need to have a certain ability to qualify for the major tournaments.

The other three you mention are American sports and not becoming like to them is a major reason for the outrage at these proposals.

This is totally an arrogant decision made for financial reasons. The FA and UEFA must make any financial penalties exceed perceived financial gains.

And what can the fans do? They can copnsider boycotting the products of any Corporations who are helping finance this decision through their advertising revenue.

In the meantime, the FA should consider demoting the "so-called" big clubs, maybe to League 2?

It’s no more cheating than Man City and Chelsea being bank rolled to Success, West Ham being given a stadium, Wolves using an agent to get top Portuguese talent for a pittance whilst in the Championship and so on.

The whole game is crooked, always has been

Looks like this will be decided by the courts in the end.

Once again if the ESL does go ahead and it rattles West Ham fans so much then maybe it will be worth it?!

On a serious note West Ham fans are and always will be a 3rd or 4th priority when it comes to rivalary.

So I guess you are in favour of this?

Finishing say 9th, and then having the right to play in Europe's elite competition ahead of a team that finished 3rd, isn't far off downright cheating in my book.

Those in favour of this abborrent proposal aren't really football fans in my eyes.

interesting concept from the OP.

It is as correct to say that financial doping for the past 16 years minimum has been present by oil money but nobody seemed to mind at all when it was pointed out.

now FSG have decided if you can't beat them then join them they are the worst i nthe world and far worst than the poor innocent city and chelsea owners dragged along with this

Your missing the point, the Champions League teams already make more money than the rest and if this proposal was for even more, well there would be muttering but that's about it.

It's the closed shop that's the problem, no relegation, no chance for Leicester or whoever to break into the club, that is the issue.

“ I'm not a football fan, I'm a West Ham supporter.”

I don't see it as a huge stretch from the financial doping of the big clubs.

When's the last time Madrid/Barca didn't qualify for the CL? 20 years? They have become so powerful it's nearly impossible not to qualify.

United and Arsenal under Fergie and Wenger were the same. It's only once Chelsea and City got financially doped these two were challenged.

I hate this new competition but let's not pretend top European football hasn't been a closed shop for a long time.

An alarming amount of Liverpool fans have apparently been brainwashed by FSG.

Don't forget they bought our club for a relative pittance, after the courts removed Waldorff and Statler. They are the custodians blah... blah... the club belongs to the fans... PR feed... blah... blah... open letter to the fans... blah... blah.

My bet is that John Henry, along with a few others, is at the forefront of this sport recking abortion. No open is gonna wash this time John.

Back in the 1970’s,you could say that many top clubs were cheating then...

To buy a quality player, you had to hand the manger of the team you were buying from, a brown envelope, usually containing £1000 cash...

Bill Nicholson refused to do this... which explains why his team from the mid 60’s to early -mid 70’s sadly declined..without the quality players being replaced, with like for like...

We missed out on all the top strikers at the time... Frank Worthington, Malcolm MacDonald etc... we ended up buying Ian Moores (RIP) who was 9th on the list...

Within 3 years we were relegated, after narrowly missing out on relegation 2 seasons before...

So, my point is... do we join the other top 5 clubs in the ESL... or do we decline.... & get left behind.... a bit like Bill Nick stubbornness in the 70’s... (these facts come from Steve Perryman’s autobiography)...

I personally would have preferred if Bill Nick had just coughed up for the likes of MacDonald etc...

Also, if the other top 5 join the ESL, then I want Spurs too, also

Am I being controversial in both my decisions...

Nope and once we pull out Levy should call it a day. Joe Lewis should replace him asap.
