It’s baffling. I’m not gonna claim he’s been a glaring success for the fee that he cost but some seem determined to let on he’s been dreadful for United up until this season.

The fact is up until this season he’s often had to play with dross.

He's definitely not been dreadful. He's still been a solid 6 out of 10 signing.

It's because we all wanted and hoped for so much more. He's capable of playing the way he did second half most weekends but he sadly doesn't.

If you asked Utd fans to rank his overall performance at United against previous midfielders at the club he wouldn't even score better than Michael Carrick. Carrick was a much better signing for us than Pogba even if you think Pogba has more natural ability. And that's not even going into Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and Robbo territory.

A bit like Maguire he's been a victim to the price tag and hype. He was a £60m player that went for way over the odds.

Pogba has benefitted from playing with a striker who actually knows how to play as a number 9. Who’d have thought?

Hard to compare Pogba to previous midfielders at the club because the club have struggled so much during his time here. If you put Carrick in Pogba’s position I’m sure he would be finding it far more difficult to perform consistently. There’s also far greater pressure on players these days, especially when they’re a huge name playing for a club who are underperforming.

Its a combination of unrealistic expectations from fans, under performance, weight of the price tag, being poorly managed and dislike from fans.

Ultimately, if there was a 27 year old world class midfielder out there, avaialable on a free, but demanding £400k per week, the club would be interested and the fans would be begging the club to do it.

Not so long ago I’d have said Veron was a fairer comparison than Carrick!

But I've always thought Pogba had it in him to do very well at United and he’s certainly looked the part for a lot of this season. I hope we can keep him personally.

Not having a go at Ole but I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that 100%.

When Ole first came in he used Pogba if not as a number 10 then at least as the most advanced of the midfield trio and he was doing Bruno like numbers.

Then for some reason he pushed him deeper and use substandard players like Lingard and Pereira in that role.

Pogba is at his best when he plays in an advanced position.

These articles come up after one good game or 2 good games. Pogba disappears so much for his apparent and estimated future price tag.

He is not world class, not on his performance with is during the life of his contract. His performance changes like his haircut as shown in Roma, he still remains a defensive liability.

I have nothing against resigning him, but there are options out there. Not resigning him is not the end of the world.

In a perfect world, we'd find some way to offload DDG to get him off the payroll and use the savings to offer an improved contract to Pogba. I agree with comments saying that Pogba doesn't perform to the best of his ability in many matches, but he is still the best player creative player on the team even when he isn't at playing at his full potential. It's no coincidence that our points per game record is poorer with him out of the side.
