Anyway cheers lads.
Not sure if I was listening to Amazon commentators or South African ones but they were saying we were looking to qualify for Europe. That’s the last thing we need!
I think in both games Potter has done a number on us. Fielded the right personnel and just out thunk Bielsa. Tactically spot on.

HIND SIGHT IS A WONDERFUL THING

its a football forum, mate. Would you rather we didn't talk about the events of the football games?
I just don’t align with Bielsa’s starting line up full stop today. Even with Philips.
Predicted a defeat to the wife straight away.
To compound the problem, too many out of form players were played and nearly all had poor games.
The team was utterly unbalanced by the end.
Just one of those days, I guess.

Not sure about that. They play pretty much the same way against everyone. Just think playing with 5 CBs against our injury ravaged attack was always likely to be a boon.

Poveda should have started. Rodrigo should have come on for Klich or Roberts. If you're going to make the Hernandez change then bring Koch off not Llorente.
They deserved the win, and probably should have scored more, but we brought it on ourself with consistent mistakes and general poor performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure Poveda has the quality or presence to play 90mins in a game like that. I like him but he’s eirk in progress. For me he’s well behind Raph and Costa. He has time on his side though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'd have unquestionably done a better job than what did play. If Dallas is our fourth choice right winger then I guess I get why we want another.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dallas can do much more than just attack. Poveda is one dimensional at this stage of his career. No doubt he will get better under Bielsa though. Nowhere near a 90 min player yet.
Praying KP and Raph are back for Spurs otherwise it could be embarrassing.

Absolutely correct. Bamford was not the problem.
He ran his socks off to try and bridge the gap between
him and the midfield. Dallas needed to start in the
middle with Tyler. Just fell apart today. Move on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Moving Dallas out to the wing and slotting Klich into the midfield was the big mistake in my estimation. We had looked solid in the middle last few games. The way their CBs could pick up the ball on the edge of their area and run with it to the edge of ours was very worrying.
Today was another case where 2 players from the previous game were unavailable (KP and Costa) but we shuffled half the team round instead of just putting a replacement in those 2 places
I think Poveda is too lightweight unfortunately and gets knocked off the ball too easily. He has some good pace and nice skill but needs to work on his strength like Foden who is a similar frame but a lot physically stronger.
How has Klich managed to stay on till end. He was woeful. Should've brought on Pablo 20 mins earlier but usual he's the last option.
Have to admit, not watched Brighton other than against us. Both times they outplayed us. You can keep the same personnel and tweak things mind. They had a game plan, it seems we didn't.

There is no answer to this. Very puzzling as he has been a good servant to the club but based on his last dozen or so appearances I would sell him.

I am with you. Klich did nothing all game, first touch was awful and you forgot he was on the pitch most of the game. How he stayed on when Llorente, Alioski and Bamford were hooked is beyond me.
Rodrigo will not have enhanced his reputation today either although in fairness both he and Bamford before him had nothing to work with.

Sad to say this but I would look at offloading him and replacing with someone with more presence. Brighton bullied us in the middle today. Would keep Shackleton as back-up and focus on signing a decent #8.
I don’t think Klich is underperforming - I think he’s just reached his limitations in this league. What’s the point in keeping him, as he wouldn’t be an effective sub either.

Maybe you are right. If we can move him on we should. I don't know what length of contract he is on but his performances this season will not have clubs beating a path to sign him from us. He could do a good job for a top half championship club I feel.
People have to remember that Klich was one of our best players for the first third/half of the season.
Be interesting to see what the same people’s comments were back then.
Klich was our best player after 10 games imo. He’s lost form over the season.

Could be several reasons for that too.
Think it’s very harsh to talk about him as a player that will never be good enough at this level given that a few months ago he was much more than good enough at this level.
I'm not sure if Klich has had covid if he has that may explain his collapse of form
Macca, I think it is COVID. Got him and Rodrigo.
Hopefully they both fully recover for next season.
Klich has had injuries and covid, off the back of playing basically every game for 2 1/2 years. Needing a rest is understandable.
Poveda isn't necessarily the best option on the wing, that's why he's fourth choice. He's done okay when he has come off the bench in recent games, though, and when the players ahead of him are out he should be starting, not reshuffling a team that has been playing well to put Klich in instead. Dallas wasn't effective at RW, and we missed him in CM. Poveda was more effective, because he could at least pick up the ball and try to beat a man, even if he wasn't creating. Brighton at that point had a low block, because we gave them an early lead.
We clearly lacked pace and option in the first half. Harrison a good winger (had a bad day today), but you need something different on the opposite side. Dallas isn't that. Poveda should have started.
