Sounds loathsome to me.
Allegiance or death. How successful has this formula proved to be in history?

Apart from making the PL the strongest, most competitve and watched league in the World?

Nothing really.

And rightly so too. English Football isn't about the team at the top of the 92 team pyramid. It's about them all.

We don't need a super league. The PL is already the super league that the rest of Europe is envious of. What we need is parasite owners thrown out.

I stand with the 14 clubs.

English football is just about 92 teams? The top of the pyramid?

Pathetic idea

Separate from us and you will be punished.

If 10 clubs want to go form their own leagues or cups they should have the freedom to do it.

I hope the top 6 push back on this, they can't be forced to sign this. The PL has no power to enforce this. They need the top 6 - they are just hoping that public pressure makes them sign it.

What are they going to do? Relegate the clubs and deduct points and ruin their cash cow? The PL is nothing without the top 6.

It looks like they can be forced to sign the new charter.

The FA and the PL said in their statement that they are in talks with the government to legislate it into law, to give it legal status.

The government seem pretty clear that they support legislative backing of the charter.

No you're right it's about the rest too. But I was referring to the professional side of it. Semi pro and grass roots are hugely important too. It's all one big family.

while I am not a fan of the ESL (in its current guise at least)

I also hate this idea even more. Imagine being part of an organisation that will punish you for ever leaving. It is almost tyranical if you ask me. If I was a selfish owner of a football club, I will be inclined to use this as an excuse to actually leave and join the ESL

They should keep things the same, ultimately the fans will decide like they did with the ESL.

But we shouldn't leave. Ever. We are Manchester United from Manchester, England. We play in the English football leagues and always should.

This super League idea is nonsense. The PL is already the best league in the world and we have the Champions league as the 'super league'.

My club would have done very well out of the ESL I'm sure but that doesn't make it right.

I don't get this. The ESL clubs didn't want to leave their domestic leagues.

They didn't. But they wanted to ensure that hardly anyone else can prosper again as Super league would have been a closed shop for all but 5 extra clubs. That's not fair on any level is it?

No it's not. I hated the idea. I just don't see that this will prevent it. It's UEFA that needs to be doing stuff like this to stop it happening.

This is a perfectly reasonable stance. If a club wants to separate itself from the pyramid of football by creating an alternative competition from which other PL clubs are excluded both from equal sporting participation and the associated financial opportunities, then it abdicates the right to the benefits of participating in the pyramid. We can't undermine the integrity of the competition and what remains of the level playing field and expect everyone to shrug their shoulders.

If anyone thinks the 'PL needs us more than we need them' they should be happy enough to exit the domestic league.

This isn't soley just on the owners. They are by far the worst culprits but This is a problem with a million angles.

Wages
Transfer fees
Sky TV / BT
Capitalism
Oil money clubs
Agents greed
Player power

Theres so many things that led to this ESL idea. Elite level Football has got out of control and the bubble will burst. It has to. It's not sustainable.
