Dele the Raumdeuter

I think his best position in the future should be CM.

He is too slow and a one trick pony(nutmeg) to play in one of the forward positions. He should either play in the CAM or as one of the two pivots and become a box to box midfielder. Just like his hairstyle he needs to reinvent himself.

Have to like the way he moved into different positions against Sheff Utd but his passing was wayward quite a few times which let his performance down. There is plenty of room for improvement.

Dele isn't good enough playing over longer distances to play deeper.

He's a pure attacker at this point I would say

Im including the 10 as an attacking position there

I disagree. He has always had good stamina to cover the pitch but lack an injection of pace. He needs to improve his passing in order to become a CM. There is no reason why he can't do it. He played CM for MK Dons.

Plenty of top level defenders and attackers would be good enough technically to play CM in league one.

His stamina is good but his passing range is poor, as is his ball carrying over long distances. All his best work on the ball is done in tight spaces with quick interchanges.

a 9 and a half.

Agreed all over the pitch and not just in the final third.

End of the day if he was sold along with Ndombele in the summer I wouldn't shed any tears.

He thinks he's Bob Marley now.

I thought he had a decent enough performance against the worst team in the league on Sunday, but it's clear to me through his haircuts and other things he's let his focus wander away from football, as his performance levels have gone down. People on here will and have defended him saying his stats have still been good, but we're talking about a player who should have gone on to be world class, not just post decent stats.

A real shame how de doesn't seem like the type of character to back up the talent he has.

Was Dele supposed to become world class? He has a very niche skillset. The ceiling for someone like Dele is probably Thomas Muller and there's probably a fair few who would disagree about him being world class.

He's basically there to post decent stats, he's never going to run a game.

He doesnt gave a position in modern football really. He's not good enough to play 8, tricky enough to play wide, pacey or strong enough to play up top and no-one uses a 10.

Not that I disagree with the article. Emulating Muller is a good target, both have great movement.

I think he could (and has done) a job on the left or as a 9 but his best position is as a 10 running beyond a striker who likes to drop off

I think I would cash in if there was a decent offer for him

From what we've seen of his talent and potential I would say yes, he had/has the quality in his locker to be world class, and that isn't just running a game from midfield. His biggest strength is what he does in and around the box.

I don't think it's hard to imagine him going from decent stats to great stars again once he's playing in an actually decent side

It looks increasingly less likely for me he has the attitude required to get back on track and keep it there. He's had a few spells where he's looked quality for a bit since his first few seasons at Spurs but they never last long. And then I see him with a new haircut and it helps explain it to me. I mean it's been as good as confirmed he isn't the hardest worker on the training ground anymore.

I think you're reading into a haircut a bit much

Putting Dele in the same sentence as Thomas Muller is abit too much to be honest.

Maybe

But it sometimes helps to get an idea of a person and where their focus really is. If they are doing that stuff and it doesn't affect their performances then fair enough. As we know Dele's levels have dropped off the last few years and this is why he doesn't find himself a regular at Spurs or England.

Hate it when players get judged on stuff that’s not football related.

Haircuts ffs

See some saying Reguilón form dropped off due modelling for a fashion brand.

Too much too soon seemingly. Often the way with kids who have tough upbringings like he did. As Robbing has said, the game has evolved away from using number 10's or second strikers which is the only position Dele really thrives in these days. I really thought he'd be the winner out of all the Spurs players when Jose arrived.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dele did come into a bit of form around the time Jose came in.

Mourinho was never going to make do with someone not putting the effort in on the training ground though, if Dele wasn't doing that. As we know more often than not with Jose it often results in being frozen out or slaughtered publicly.

That was me! True though. If a player has a social media account and shows off other stuff not football related like fashion brands and modelling you can see where their head is at. Just play football and don't post that stuff so it can't be used against them when their form dips.

You don't like the truth much do you?

Seen Harry kane has a wife and kids?

Unneeded distraction, needs to cut them loose. Everyone knows that the good footballers are the ones that think about it 24/7 and have nothing else in their life. Messi and Ronaldo have never got involved in any marketing or the likes
