Ole's rotation dilemma

Strong v Villa

Rotate v Leicester (will have one eye on cup final)

Strong v Liverpool

Strong v Fulham (as that's nearly a week after LFC game)

Reserves v Wolves for all I care.

Interesting point. Ideally we'd identify combinations of players who fit the particular challenges of the respective games and give individuals rests while maintaining decent quality across each game. But we don't have a squad like City's.

If it's indeed a case of deciding which games to prioritise, much as we'd love to deliver a knock-out blow to Liverpool, surely the six-pointer vs Leicester is important?

I think we’ll be going stronger than people expect in all these games. The lack of depth is obviously an issue, and Ole doesn’t really trust quite a few of the squad players.

I think he’ll also want to get second basically tied up with a win against Leicester, so it’ll be a stronger team than perhaps necessary.

Maybe we'll see Charlie McNeil debut against Wolves

Penandes will play all 3 right? Just thinking about my FF.

I think our line up v Leicester will be dictated by results over the weekend. If we beat Villa I think we'd be better off rotating a bit against Leicester (who could well have an eye on the Cup Final) so that players are fresher for Liverpool.

I do think we'll see quite a few players playing all three games though. I'd expect Henderson, AWB, Maguire to play all three and wouldn't be surprised to see Shaw and Bruno play all three either. Nobody did themselves many favours (Matic aside) last night as fringe players so Ole may well ask for one big push this week before shuffling the pack as the Europa Final gets nearer.

Two wins pretty much gets us second place I'd say so hopefully this time next week we'll be on 73 points at least.

I think that's very much in the context of the aggregate score line and need to conserve energy, but I agree with your wider points.

Could be that a win against Villa and point against Leicester ties up second.

It would make the last three games dead rubbers for us. Although I’m sure we’ll want to dent Liverpool’s hopes of getting into Europe - Fulham will be relegated by the time we play them and Wolves have nothing to play for.

Maybe a good chance to scout Traore. His cross and Cavani would be a good combination. I don't trust we can seal Sancho deal anytime soon

can someone confirm, wasn't Pogba on an yellow last night.
i was fuming until he got subbed! why did Ole risk him, but save McT, but what was strange, was that nobody mentioned the yellow from the 1st leg...
it explained why Pogba was half hearted and let players go past him easy.... it wasn't reminded was it?

You can’t miss a final for multiple yellows anymore

Traore’s like the fourth best attacker at Wolves. We don’t need to scout him against us to know he’s not very good.

Speaking of... Neto should on our radar this summer.

Him and Neves. Think both will be looking to make the next step in their career paths.

Not really a fan of Neves. Neto looks quality, but he’s just suffered a serious knee injury so don’t see him moving anywhere this summer.

Did not know that. Probably put a bookmark on this and see how he kicks on when he comes back then.

Jeesh Wolves really had a mare with injuries this season. That sucks for them

I wouldn’t plan on going full strength against Liverpool.

It’s looking highly likely the game will end up being postponed again.

Already spoken to more than one person who is planning to protest who didn’t turn out last time. If anything, it might well end up being a bigger turnout this time around.

posted on 7/5/21

Yeah they’ve had some really bad luck with them. I think, providing he can back fine after injury, the Neto one may have been a blessing in disguise. Nobody is gonna buy him this summer now. I suspect he’d have been off if he didn’t get injured.

I'd assume the security will be greater this time too.

But Rosso, you probably spoke to your contacts before that sincere and profoundly moving letter from Joel Glazer came out, which surely puts the whole matter to rest, no?

There is that of course. I would just have expected better from players trying to force themselves into the first XI.

posted on 7/5/21

Tbf there’s a reason a few of these aren’t in the first eleven. And when Ole doesn’t trust them, it’s difficult to find any rhythm to then take your chance from those limited opportunities.

You often see this with clubs that have better squad players than we do. It’s quite the skill to be able to manage the squad so that these players can make an impact, as it is for the player themselves to be able to come in and perform.

Outrageous!
If there’s a fixture pileup it’s because if United themselves and their fans!
Deduct points for any biased team selection!
The FA are suckers and have open backside for trans like United to shaft with a deep rod!

There was a simple solution for the PL and the FA to take that would have removed this problem, would have been fair for everyone (Chelsea might have felt ever so slightly aggrieved), and would have been in the interest of player health and fitness too.

They chose not to take it. So United will do what is in their interests.
