Watched When Harry met Sally first time in years there. Good film, great soundtrack - Rodgers, Gershwin, Hart, Berlin et al. Love all that.

I don't think I've ever seen it. I've saw the clips but never the whole thing

Anyway, if you want a read, try the election thread in the bear pit. Scary and amusing in equal measure.

King Boris will rightly and legitimately deny Sturgeon and rerun on the SNP's failed referendum bid for independence. Sturgeon says let's pretend the first referendum didn't happen and try again.
Well no. That "once in a generation" referendum did happen and you lost.
The whole point of referenda is that they settle contentious issues for good (or at least for decades).
You can't have the losing side simply demanding rematches until they eventually win.

Aside from that, Salmond said to Marr at the time it was only his opinion. There is nothing in law. Once it was realised unionists were jumping onto this prior to the referendum both he and Sturgeon were clear that Brexit against the wishes of Scotland changed everything.

Aren't people allowed to change their mind?

“This is a market on our doorstep, ready for further exploitation by British firms. The membership fee seems rather small for all that access. Why are we so determined to turn our back on it?”

“There is the worry about Scotland, and the possibility that an English-only “leave” vote could lead to the break-up of the union,”

Boris Johnson February 2016 - 4 months before the Brexit referendum and before he spotted his opportunity to be 'king of the world'.

How does anyone know if people have changed their minds?
We'll only know for sure if/when we vote again in 20 or so years time. That will then legitimately be another vote for a new generation of Scots. A vote now so soon after is a rerun.

Why do people think that this SNP minority, Green-backed Government will be any different to the last 5 years of SNP minority, Green-backed Government?

Literally nothing was done about independence despite Brexit being the best mandate for it in 300 years.

No doubt in 2026 people will still be saying "Ok this time we'll vote SNP to get a referendum - definitely this time" as Ian Blackford laughs on from his castle of money. There's about as much desire for a referendum in the SNP as there is for HoL reform in Labour.
