Which means that Bielsa has a decision to make centre backs wise.
Really don't think it will be a problem whichever way he goes.
At least in this game he can pick 3 of them. Against West Brom he will only be able to select 2 out of the 4. And this is why he is so cautious about having a massive squad

agreed but i would still rather see struijk start most games. you don't need to be a massive squad to have 4 cb's, it's a must and i'm very happy that we have cooper in it. i just think he's 4th choice.
also helps that both koch and llorente can fill in for phillips.

Not saying we should have less CBs. Just highlighting there's a constant discussion about how the squad is way to small and we need more depth. But as soon as we are in a position where we have to leave out very good player, there's an immediate debate about the message it sends leaving either play out.
I'm just highlighting that there are positives and negatives to both a smaller and bigger squad.
Bielsa made an interesting comment regarding players not necessarily being ready to start just because they are fit.
'Bielsa reiterated how damaging it can be for a player to start a match if they are not ready to do themselves justice, especially after a long absence. Doesn't feel like Raphinha will be a dead-cert to start based on those comments. #lufc' Beren Cross
If Raphinha doesn't start I expect Dallas to play on the right wing, and Alioski LWB.

Another reason why I wouldn't spend money on back up to Phillips. Will reduce the budget available to signings starters, and will mean more wages sat on the bench.
It's different to the big 6 who's wage budget can easily be triple ours. We are better off prioritising better players in a leaner squad.
Koch in the phillips role last time out was probably the first time I thought that we didn't miss Phillips at all.
Don't gwt me wrong, you would start phillips there everytime if both are fully fit.
But koch was fantastic there last time out.
I also question the need to bring in another player when actually using koch there is a much easier way to keep game time up for koch.
We know phillips won't play every game, be it injuries or suspensions and having koch cover gives more game time to a player who actually, despite him looking a very good buy, is down the pecking order at the moment.
On coops and struijk.
Struijk starts for me, and Cooper comes on in the second half.
When they say a players place is never guaranteed, does that exclude the captain?..
I'm sure Bielsa knows what he's planning, and no doubt he'll be speaking to the players and letting them know his thoughts, but if Struijk is dropped that'd be one hell of a kick in the sack!..

nah he is still learning & the only kick he gets is one from himself as he can't believe he has started so many games at his age at leeds.

Lets put both up for sale, see who goes and for what, then the one left can play!..
Struijk has already got top teams looking at him, I wonder why!..
He'd be the first to go and we'd get more for him, I like both players but he and Llorente have got a great match going and I think Cooper would take something away from that!..
i do not doubt that 1 jot, 1st time i watched stuijk in the u23s knew he was going to have a very bright future, these last few games mean nout really, bielsa said after the spurtz game 'we have a duty to all our fans to entertain, no matter what' so who starts is just how it is. nobody will be able to predict the line up, next season 1st game, how ever struijk will be in contention, if he stays
As Faith says though, MB could play 3 CBs. Then the question is
does he play Llorente & Struijk + Coops? Or + Koch? Or + Bill?
Hell of a luxury to have.
Now with our place in the Prem secure, be interesting to see
how the club views last few games. Does Gaetano get a Prem run?
Hope so. Pabs start?
Hindsight, Orta/MB/Club had a great summer last time out.
Raph (brilliant), Llorente (massive talent), Koch (looks better
and better), Meslier (on perm) mental good goalkeeper
and still so young. Add to that the U23s.
Here's to a great summer recruitment. One thing's for sure,
CB is covered.
* Does Gaetano get a Prem run OUT? A few minutes here and there second half of games.
Apparently Pope is a doubt. Which means we can forget all about the tactics and just shoot. Most shots on targets likely to lead to goals.
But we earn extra millions the higher up the table we finish, don't we? Is it three million for every higher place? Surely we'll be pushing to the final whistle of the final game and sentimental gestures regarding club favourites like Berardi and Hernandez would just be "bad for business"?
