I mentioned this about a week or so ago. Reported that Mendes was behind the move, maybe to Aston Villa.

Christ! I hope not. I'm clinging to the fact that why on earth would Wolves allow him to leave / relieve him of his duties when they could have held out for compensation from Spurs.

We want someone who plays good football, it won't be him

Did a good job for Wolves

The BBC gossip column mentioned that Mendes was behind the move a few weeks ago and that Villa had the money to spend on players. I took that as meaning that Wolves are not prepared to spend much this summer.

Now we have to be concerned as to who our next manager/coach will be and if our Portuguese contingent will follow Nuno.

Hat's off to Nuno though, for getting us this far, but many will want a more positive manager. Steven Gerrard for me, although he may be biding his time to go to Liverpool.

Lage did well at Benfica... plays more open footy and a 4231 so a move away from our back 7

also portugese so more appeasement for the bed wetters

I still want Rhino Gattuso

He did a good job at Wolves, had a difficult season this time around.

Seems strange to try and pursue a move to Villa though considering the job Dean Smith has done there.

Fantastic manager for us and wish him well. Feels like the right time.

Now to get Stale back.

Nuno will be going home I suspect. No secret it has been a struggle away from family so don't see why he would carry on that way. Absolutely zero chance Nuno goes to Villa, he isn't daft enough to ruin all his work with us to go to a rival.

Sad it ends with fans not able to say farewell.

Bruno Lage was sacked by Benfica last year after a poor run of results. Not sure I'd risk him, even though he was a winger and would play a more open style, I imagine.

Isn't that why Nuno is leaving, because you got Stale?

That's how you manage recruitment. Get someone lined up before you say goodbye to the current one. Spurs could learn a thing or two. I think we've had about 5,000 managers turn us down since Jose was sacked. I think the next interview is those two shouty meathead joint-managers from the early Salford City. Fingers crossed.

The manager may have had some influence over that, was he not left on the bench a few times when the news first came out about a stall in contract talks?

Can't say Lage would be an inspiring choice if true and would seem a step backwards. All has a bit of a feel of a project grinding to a halt. Poor transfer windows with little overall spend in recent times despite some of the wealthiest owners in the game. This summer will be very telling.
