SNP....Rangers

People who base their politics on their football allegiance are up there with the saddest cvnts of all.

SNP could put in their manifesto that they want to abolish Rangers and award all their trophies retrospectively to Broomhill Sports Club and I'd still be no more or less inclined to vote for them.

Don't get the "they're trying to close us down" stuff. WTF's that about?!

It's fine to be annoyed about some of their recent behaviour towards rangers.

It's also fine to want independence above all else

It's also fine to want to stay in the union

Basing either of the last 2 points on your football team is idiocy as I have told a good few of these if you vote SNP then you aren't a rangers fan types on twitter.

Rangers seem quite happy to take my money.

It's up there with 'ma Granda voted Labour, ma Da voted Labour, uv voted Labour all my life' as a justification for still doing so.

Very few people will agree 100% with any party manifesto

Furthermore, the technology exists today for electronic voting by the people on every significant decision. Oh sure there could be problems with household coercion and abuse but that pretty much already exists. Why won't anyone pursue that in this country? A topic by topic people's referendum that crosses party lines and lets 'our leaders' understand what we think and cross us at your peril. They think they know bets and want to pursue their dogma as opposed to what people want.

I've said before reading follow follow politics is a strange experience. You're a cult if you vote independence backing parties. And Rangers supporters don't back independence apparently. All whilst berating nationalism and being a weird kind of English nationalist that equates British as equaling English. Looked up what is to be British by what they saw on the friends wedding episode in London or something

Why are you reading FF?

Your last sentence makes no sense!

Rangers fans are indy, unionist, tory, labour and Green.

Some Gers fans see Scots who think they are irish, waving trico?ours and backing indy to be pyor rebels ....and then a few bears go off on one against SNP politics!

Fair point!

The age old irish, british, what are Scots debate?

You can be Scottish n British,, or irish n british too!

The British union and Scottish indy thing is made up anyway by political guys seeking power.

The fact Gers fans wave union flags in that part of uk annoys SNP and Celtic irish republicans, hence the hostility

Remaining in the union is as valid and logical as seeking to go it alone, in Scotland or Ireland👍

am just glad Rangers won 55 and stopped Celtic😉

OP

Fair call mate, and Zach gets grief for being Indy and Rangers, but that is daftie stuff.

When you look at bojo Tories, Corbyn and now Starmer Labour, it hardly makes you want to vote for thon clowns.

As I said, the old hate between green and orange,,brit and Mick, colours the Indy and union debate, with both sides winding each other up for petty tribal reasons.

Given Boris Tory rule, or Labour nowadays, I can see why Scots seek to leave, even though I am kinda unionist.

There does seem to be animosity or jealousy among some nationalist elements and SNP towards Rangers, which does not help.

It makes no sense.... OK I'll try clarify. They have a view of Britishness that is a caricature. Of course you may disagree but from much of what I read on it, that site screams wannabees for many of them.

Pretty pashed off with the selection of poor choices we have here. There's room for something inspirational and new but nobody seems able or willing to try?

I concur mate, romantic notions of what Britain was say 50 years ago and more, not what it is today and unionists Here hold similar delusions, at times.

That said, nothing wrong with being British and Scottish...or Irish or Welsh, as that made it work.

If you go on a nationalist or republican site, you will also see crazy notions of nation, freedom, mopery and romantic concepts of a people oppressed, rising.

I think that's why it annoys me. I'm not a nationalist, I've kinda made my peace it'll happen at some point in my life time.

But I absolutely resent the idea that there's a Britishness check box or something and if I don't agree without question on everything' I'm worse than the nationalists or something. I also get particularly upset at claims a vote for independence is a vote for Scotland. Maybe it is but personally I disagree and remain unconvinced it'll be better. But spare me the guilt trip that I voted against Scotland

Unionist and nationalist sides in Scotland and NI try to make you feel guilty, threatened, oppressed, superior, blah blah blah to get you to vote for them.

Politics is dirty and for dsfties like me, lol

No, because it has to be viewed from a Scotland in UK angle and not NI in UK angle and probably not by a party that use the word British every second line. A unified Ireland is currently more probable than an independent Scotland imho.

Here, we are headed for a long, long stalemate until enough old traditionalists (note, not unionists) die, enough people get fed up or the nationalists inch over the line. Hardly the way to do it but if it is by apathy then it would at least be typically Scottish.

I didn't mean the SDP is an NI party - of course not. I meant your view of Scottish politics from your NI base.
