A lot of money but one that would cost us much more in 3 years time

Heard tonight on the radio that Fosun are interested in buying Bordeaux who are struggling financially. Mendes is involved in some form, made me wonder if Nuno will end up there.

Looks very much like Lage will be our man, I share some of the concerns over his record. I remember the fanfare over Marco Silva who had actually been quite successful at olympiakos before he was linked with us. His premier league record though has been pretty ordinary first Hull then Everton sold a pup by JG.

Must admit I'd be a bit happier if Shi had some experienced wise council at his shoulder with some knowledge of the game to guide him through the summer. The last few windows have smacked too much of investment in young talent for future profit than building a first team squad that can hold its own in the upper reaches of the league.

There have been quite a few games when he’s been anonymous but others when he’s looked really promising. Could see him progressing like Neto

You do wonder who Jeff does turn to for advice. Mostly Mendes? Can’t believe Scott Sellars. But who else is there.

As for Bordeaux they do have some pedigree and won their share of trophies over the years. Run badly in recent years so at a low ebb recently. Typically Fosun, trying to lift a sleeping giant. And they do have a stadium that holds over 40,000 so the potential is there. But I couldn’t see Fosun moving Nuno there

Reading about another in the list of amazing VAR incidents. At the game between Metz and Marseille yesterday the Marseille players appealed for a penalty in the 10th minute of added time. Ref said no pen, then followed a mass brawl between the players. The ref then immediately ended the game. Players were separated and things were calming down when the ref decided to consult the video recording. Then 3 minutes after the game ended, he awarded a pen to Marseille which they converted to make it 1-1

Its a farce in every way. My favourite so far was the Italian one where I think it was Lazio who were begging for a penalty and urging the ref to check so he did and then found that there was a foul at the start of the move in the other box so awarded the opposition a penalty instead

As for Mendes I can't say I have ever thought he is a negative to our club and I really don't think we would be where we are now if he wasn't in our corner.

Really like the look of Vitinha. I think if he is given a proper run of games under a new manager in Moutinho's position he will prove to be an excellent signing.

Talk in the Portuguese press that Moutinho will return to Portugal this summer for the final years of his career with Porto a probable destination

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I think we have seen the best of him, he's not the player he was 3 years ago.

If we get Lage as head coach, I imagine he will look to bring in Carlos Vinicius who performed well for him at Benfica. We have been rumoured to be interested, so those rumours would make more sense.

Ruben Vinagre has been perfomring well for Famalicao in the Portuguese league, so there might be a possibility that he could be used as a makeweight to reduce any fee for players we sign from clubs in Portugal. I guess the same could be said for Moutinho if we look to bring players in from Porto.

Lage to be announced soon. Absolute joke of an appointment up there with bloody Zenga.

With Conceciao having left Porto to become Napoli manager there is speculation in their press that Nuno could return to the club

He has openly said how he has missed being with his family so maybe that’s a move he has asked Mendes to fix for him

Some of the comments about Jose are cruel. Yes he was crap, but I would like to know who choose him and who agreed for him to come to Wolves.

On paper Jose was a good signing as was Cutrone. Both had good records in top leagues before we signed them. I wouldn’t criticise the club at all for signing them but as sometimes happens, it didn’t work out at all with either

The fact that Cutrone this season failed at Wolves, Fiorentina and Valencia suggests all isn’t well with the individual

posted on 25/5/21

sadly, we don't play on paper so I don't think due diligence was made.
If he did not suit our style of play then that should have been obvious.

I don’t see anything in their playing record that suggests they wouldn’t be good signings. Everyone seemed to think that at the time. Hindsight is a great thing

Hopefully signing aren't just made from playing records. You'd like to think there is some scouting to have an idea how these players would fit the club.

Willian Jose is quite immobile and the ball bounces off him so nothing gets held up. Regardless of his previous record, that was never going to be a fit for us with how Nuno sets up his teams.

There are rumours linking Neves to Roma for 30 million Euros. It would be an absolute scandal if that fee was true.

cutrone was scoring regularly for Milan prior to us signing him and I was legit excited about it

Yeah the Cutrone one was understandable. Young player who was scoring goals with lots of potential.

The Willian Jose one was obviously a panic buy though.
