I'm not saying it is. But like I say, I'm supposedly watching the best competition in Europe and I'm not watching the best teams from Europe.

If you want an insult as such, then your argument about improving the lower quality sides is about as mediocre as your club and International side.

so really, Basel, Shakthar and Besiktas shouldn't be there

Keep watching any you'll see the best teams from Europe, that's the whole point of the competition

Aye we're shiete, and we love our club, hundreds of thousands of us, get that round you

Again though, I guess UEFA no naff all about improving Europe considering 16 teams out of the 32 will be from the better countries. Only a handful of teams I can think of outside them leagues that have a chance of qualifying imo.

If you think that's about improving Europe your an idiot. It's all about money quite obviously

Not saying that. But these sides that don't have the quality at all, APOEL, Maribor etc. What place have they got really? Fair enough, they get the odd result here and there throughout, but not pulling up any trees.

If the CL was the way you wanted it, it would be boring. The same 4 teams would be reaching the SF/Final every year. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern. Granted that largely happens nowadays, but teams like Hoffenheim/Liverpool/Sevilla/whoever finished 3rd in Italy stand a better chance of an upset than what most others do imo. There is far better quality out in Europe than what's currently there.

So, why cant a champion of Greece, Turkey, wherever not be allowed into the Champions league yet a 4th placed team in England should be?

I don't care where a team are from they desrve to take there place

Hoffenheim 1 - 1 Ludogorets

guess you never saw this tonight then

I think its fine as it is.

I think if you make it all about Germany/Italy/Spain/England the rest of Europe will lose interest and probably try come up with their own way of doing things. That might make Uefa change it back, or the money will keep pouring in from Asia/Africa etc and it'll carry on and just cause divides.

I can just see all those top European players dreaming of trips to Hoffenheim and raving about the experience.

Same with fans, I'm sure all they want is to visit tiny shiete towns across four countries.

I'm not saying you don't have a point. You do. At the same time though, as much as you say it's for the Champions of these countries, is it not also for the best teams in Europe seen as it is Europe's best competition?

If you go watch a show in America on Broadway, do you expect to see some of the World's best theatrical performances or some no marks from lower theatrical schools that have done well at a much lower standard?

Right so 1 result and elimination from a competition no team is bothered about until you reach the SF makes them poor does it?

Chelsea must have been a shocking side when they finished mid table after they won the league.

Answer this, if these 3rd/4th place teams aren't the Champions, why are they in it?

posted on 7/12/17

yeah Man Utd 5th weren't they? they really deserved their place

posted on 7/12/17

They won the EL, so they deserved their place

posted on 7/12/17

They won the EL, clearly too good for the 2nd best competition in Europe, why aren't they good enough or why don't they deserve their place?

Another question, why does the 3rd place team deserve a spot in the EL then? Or why do the losers of the CL play off round automatically qualify for the group stage of the EL? How do they earn their place by losing out?

posted on 7/12/17

not really they should have just gone straight into the EL as EL champions

just my opinion

Why continue to ask stupid questions and expect sensible answers?

posted on 7/12/17

they don't, once they are out of the CL that should be it

posted on 7/12/17

Why when they are too good for that competition, hence why then won it?

I am on about teams in general

What's stupid about it?

You keep saying why would teams travel to x, y and z from various places. As a Rangers fan, would you rather travel to Sevilla away or APOEL away in the middle of December?

Whose fans put on a better show and atmosphere?

APOEL.

I'd rather do both, for different reasons.

It applies to anyone in general though. If plucky little Östersunds FK go on and win the EL, they are too good for that competition.

Why do the so called Champions of these lesser countries deserve their place? How does winning a league against a team that can't get into the EL make you good enough for the CL? Your talking about earning a place on merit, how is that fair?

posted on 7/12/17

Hands down I'd rather go to Spain.
