think Aouar and Buendia i reckon will join Arsenal in the summer

Bissouma i reckon is going to Liverpool

Buendia seems one of those that no-one cares about, gets linked with Arsenal and then suddenly becomes world class and a must buy. Talk of over £40m seem a bit ridiculous in all truth. Great stats in Championship but managed 1 goal in 36 PL games.

Aouar is reportedly available on the cheap. Would be a great signing. 23 next month, ready to be the main man at a bigger club in a bigger league than Lyon. Could build an attack around the lad for the long term. As long as no CL team want him, I guess.

In reality we could fit both into our XI.

Not that bothered about Bissouma. Think he looks good for Brighton, but the fact he and Partey will miss a huge period of the season (about 12 games probably) makes it very much bad timing for that move.

To be fair I wanted Buendia when he was still in premiership with Norwich. That was before ESR's emergence, when it was clear we needed a creative link such as Buendia or Kamacha. At the time, Lacazette was being used as a CAM for those attributes.

Aouar is the one, his stock has fallen slightly but his talent is clear. Bit of a classic Arsenal signing such as Bergkamp or Henry in that way.

Phenom, I genuinely believe that, if we push, we can beat Liverpool to Bissouma. Sometimes you get a feeling that a player wants Arsenal, such as with Sanchez and Partey.

The ACON is disastrous, but signing both Bissouma and Aouar would be wonderful. A midfield with Partey, Aouar and Bissouma would cover each player's weaknesses and highlight their strengths. My biggest reservation with Bissouma is his passing, every other attribute is delightful. If we have Partey and Aouar (who operates slightly deeper than Ødegaard), that would not be an issue.

I’d be happy with Bissouma and Auoar tbh

Not too sure about Buendia

You've got Willock to come back, no? He's looked handy for Newcastle

I did mention him. He'd be a very good bench option, especially as ESR can't play every game. He's the sort of player who can have a big impact off the bench, more than one I'd consider a starter at this stage. Joe Willock is very talented, but Newcastle is perhaps the club where players flash in the pan most.

Masabumi Hosono survived the Titanic, but not the public's scorn.

Arteta tried to play Willock as AM and it didn't work. He is not a number 10.

Actually I think you are miss reading our problem. We setup deep. As a result have a problem moving the ball quickly in transition up the pitch. Aouar etc. are small creative players who I suspect will be easily dispossessed if they haver to cover large areas of the pitch. You can see why Ceballos failed. Aouar would suit Man City far more.

What we need is Willock to partner Partey in CM. Both have running power that is key in Arteta's deep sitting CB formations. Willock can be that link to ESR in attacking midfield. So Partey is transition from Defensive midfield to centre midfield and Willock would be transition from centre midfield to attacking midfield.

We will need adequate backs in central midfield and thats where I think we need to keep Maitland-Niles as well who I believe would be a perfect foil or backup to Partey.

We continually talk of bringing in players without ever considering whether they would suit Arteta's system.

My suggested XI would have had a midfield base of Bissouma and Partey who are both perfectly capable of progressing into space. I was imagining a lopsided midfield 4 in a 4-3-3 (where one creative (ESR) plays on the "wing".

Bissouma and Partey are both exceptional at powerful, bursting dribbles after winning the ball. Aouar is a wonderful technical dribbler capable of stretching markers, picking passes and retaining possession. They complement one another.

As for Willock, in response to both We Got Our Arsenal Back and Jenius, you're right that, if he starts games, he should play as more of an 8. I see his style, if not level (lol), as being similar to Ramsey. Ramsey was only effective at CAM off the bench as games were stretched. Both players are goalscorers from that position.

Is this the Ramsey playing for Juve on £250k a week?

Did you see where I, knowing you'd take the interpretation you want to, said they were stylistically similar but not in terms of ability?

posted on 29/5/21

No I just frown on some supporters, not always you, assume that English players are not as technically competent as their foreign counterparts. Just smells of racism.

This month I said that Aaron Ramsey, pre-Shawcross, was as talented as Cesc Fabregas. I'm not the right person to make that point to. Also, he's Welsh.

Girøulski what do you make of this? Kinda lays bare how average Odegaard has been.

posted on 2/6/21

If you're saying Ødegaard hasn't been at his best for us, you're right. He hadn't played for half a year and then got injured just as he was picking up steam.

However, I can see his talent and ability. Both times he was able to get a run of games together he began to show how good he is. I'll defer to that over stats about his play whilst carrying an injury.

I was just looking at the lack of progressive passing which, lets face it, should the most important ability in any creative attacking midfield player. I just wonder if thats just a lack of strength or if it was down to tactics.

If you watched the last game of the season, that was where we got to see his creative ability firing on all cylinders. I believe that, if we could keep him, we'd see that a lot more often.
