This is promising. Could be more useful than aDonnymous and allow us to actually rest Bruno.

aDonnymous

Yeah I was thinking that. I've seen him play through the middle a few times at Dortmund but I didn't realise he'd played there that many times.

Quite like that one.

I wouldn’t expect it often, but could be an option at times.

In the 442/433 system Ole wants to play next year, Pogba will be in his ideal role on the left of the midfield 3 or as a false left midfielder with Shaw providing the width down that flank. If a natural left sided player is required for a game then Telles will be playing that role unless the club get a good offer for him or he wishes to leave, in which case Robbie Brady has already been linked up as a squad option & back up to Shaw with a fantastic set piece on him.

Rashford will start but if he's out of form Lingard (again, if he wants to stay) will come in or Sancho could move over there and Lingard could play from the right / behind the 2 forwards.

Greenwood will be soon the bench most weeks if the first 11 can be selected and Cavani is going to be direct back up to Haaland or Kane, depending on which play is brought in - though Ole prefers Haaland considerably.

Henderson
wan Bissaka | Maguire | Mings | Shaw
(Sancho) | Bruno | McTominay | Pogba
(Sancho) | Haaland | Rashford

Is Ole's ideal play next year with Sancho shifting between the 2nd and 3rd lines & also being given licence to come infield to play behind the 2 forwards + in front of the midfield 3.

Lingard (or van de Beek if Jesse wants to move on), Greenwood and Cavani will be the main attacking threats from out bench with Johnstone as back up keeper, Tuanzebe covering the right back and centre back positions, Telles or Brady covering Shaw and also providing a natural wide left option further up field and Fred as a solid midfield option to bring on.

Other players Ole views as being important next season in the squad are Garner, who Ole rates highly and will give considerable game time to.

Lindelof, Jones, Mata and Matic are definitely leaving, Bailly is staying but will be as squad cover, Romero and Grant is down to them but they have be informed of the plans for next season and their marginalised roles. De Gea it's all about if a buyer comes in.

Would it?

Dvb also had good stats in that position. Unless Sancho can create out of nothing from that position like Bruno, he'll just be like Dvb.

Sancho’s a better footballer than aDonnymous.

Fortunately Sancho is nothing like VdB. Amazing it even needs to be said.

In the no. 10 position that structure at Dortmund and Ajax no doubt help. We don't have that.

You act like good attacking players can’t do anything in a United shirt.

Get more competition lor LW and RW. People like Marcus would be far better when he realises he's not guaranteed a start. Would shape up in no time. Just look how the presence of Telles has transformed Shaw.

Fully agree, some bench time could really help him plus its what his recent performances deserve but need a quality addition first such as Sancho.

-------------------------------------------

At Ajax VdB relied heavily on his teammates being in close proximity, constant rotations, players in between the lines and quick ball circulation.

Although those things obviously help, Sancho doesn't depend on them to perform as he's far more individualistic and capable of creating chances for himself than VdB is.

For himself yes. But does he possess the passing ability to create for others in that position?

posted on 30/5/21

He can create goals for himself and for others in any area in the final third. His creativity isn't just limited to the wide areas.

Not that we're expecting him to be used centrally often if at all but Darren only mentioned it as an option.
