Just reading Ally Gold's tweets, he usually puts a positive spin on things, but he's fuming. Sounds like Levy has facked it. He moved away from the project manager then when Conte called him out about a lack of ambition he pulls the plug.

I never used to boo at games, even when we were a shambles pre Jol. But I've had it now. I started booing when Jose came as I got stuck in v Villa. I'm sick of Levy and ENIC dragging this club down.
Next season will be toxic if we appoint someone like Martinez. I will be booing and chanting ENIC out if it goes that way.
Missing out on Conte is criminal. The bloke is an elite manager. Levy just admitting he isn't interested in winning anything.
I was so ready to take all the bad words about Enic back and congratulate Levy for showing we were wrong.
But this is a kick in the balls and just confirms our worst fears.
