If you’re more offended with players taking the knee for racial equality than you are with monkey chants and online abuse of the players, you’re the problem.

Racists will be racists.

Don’t be fooled by their mealy mouthed “reasons” as to why they’re so triggered by this. Simple fact is, they don’t believe in or ever want to see racial equality.
----------------
So easy for you to tar people as racist who disagree your viewpoint.
In fact you know nothing about me and would apologise for your statement if you had some basic knowledge of my family background.
People will boo for all kinds of different reasons but please accept that many hate racism , at the same time are uncomfortable with the attached political implications..
If it was just supporting equality for all, and nothing else I would be complete agreement with you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The biggest nonsense going is that supporters that boo are doing it for all sorts of reasons. They are only doing it for one reason, and that is a racist one. They don`t like people that are not white. They are being fuelled by the likes of Farage, the Government, and all the far right groups that pander to the racists at every turn, and refuse to condemn any of the boo boys, and then come out with all the mealy mouth excuses that it is do with politics. It isn`t.

At least if you are going to be a racist, own up to it, and stop hiding behind other things. Only cowards do that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This really is the type of mentality that is causing us to become more polarized. People here are expressing their concerns and explaining how they feel and you are telling them that they are wrong and in fact a racist, which is one of the worst things that you can call somebody.

It reminds me of the whole brexit debate. I am an avid remainer and I have to say that I am ashamed at how I behaved during that period. I was snobbish and assumed that just because people wanted to leave that they were some kind of bigots. If I could go back I would be so much more measured and have a rational and open discussion about the issue and hopefully find some common ground. I promised myself that I'll never do that again.

This "absolute" way of describing people, categorizing them all into one bucket and telling them what they think isn't the right way to go about things. And as an "old timer" (which you claim to be) I would have thought that you would know this by now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, you had it right the first time. They’re bigots.

It pays for some people to always have an opposing view. They revel in it. It's what the left are best at. To be the opposition. They can shout all day long and point the finger then.

It's a characteristic way of thinking.

Although I'm guilty of doing the opposite, it's best to ignore them, especially on a day like today

Well I believe that anybody who is prepared to f*ck our economy and have my rights, freedoms and citizenship removed from me without my consent because THEY don’t like foreigners should at best be held in contempt and at worst be dealt with as a f*cking traitor.

You want to waste your time engaging with these people, good for you, I want nothing to do with them or their rancid ideology.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really are a disgusting lowlife Sandy, how dare you blanketly accuse thousands of people you dont know of being racist, sort yourself out!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is such an extreme view.

It is amazing... we have learnt nothing over the last 5 years of division.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve learnt that I will never find common ground with those people and don’t intend to try. You may as well be asking me to join a cult. A fascist cult.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The fact that you don't intend to try means that you will never be able to promote the change you hope to see.

Those are some really strong words and should not be used lightly, but you are throwing them out like they mean nothing.

To be honest, when I read comments like this you sound like you are really deep into the internet and should probably take a break from the online world. You sound like a blogger from one of those online clickbait blogs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I believe that anybody who is prepared to f*ck our economy and have my rights, freedoms and citizenship removed from me without my consent because THEY don’t like foreigners should at best be held in contempt and at worst be dealt with as a f*cking traitor.

You want to waste your time engaging with these people, good for you, I want nothing to do with them or their rancid ideology.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But you cannot lump all people into that bracket. Some voted that way, maybe. But many others voted for different reasons.

Automatic, I mean this with the utmost respect and do not mean any offence when I say this, but you are the one that sounds like the ideologue here. You have a stance and have build a strawman of the "enemy". And when anybody disagrees with you, you automatically call them the most extreme insult such as a racist or fascist.

It pays for some people to always have an opposing view. They revel in it. It's what the left are best at. To be the opposition. They can shout all day long and point the finger then.

It's a characteristic way of thinking.

Although I'm guilty of doing the opposite, it's best to ignore them, especially on a day like today
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope the irony of your blanket opinion of the left isn't lost on you

No different to sizzle, just the reverse.

This pretty much sums it up. The fact that the England team have given the reason for them kneeling as being showing unity against racism should be the end of any argument to be honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite, as Is the fact they chose a gesture of respect to show their solidarity with their colleagues, and support the games respect campaign

It's the perfect symbol. And given how clearly these points have been displayed on the thread so far I can forgive sizzles frustration that people are still scraping around to find an excuse to be annoyed at an anti-racism gesture.

I certainly can lump them all together, as they all share the same agenda, an agenda lest we forget also favoured by The British Union of fascists, The BNP, The EDL, Britain First and The National Front. That alone is something that can never be forgiven or forgotten.

It’s not all bad news of course, the Brexit voting fishing and farming industries are now finally aware of the threat Brexit is to their lives and livelihoods so that warms my heart, and the Brexit voting “ex pats” currently getting booted out of Spain is something to celebrate. However until their is a full reckoning we can never move on.

Not to mention in one breath not being lectured by privileged millionaire footballers and in the next defending rich privileged Tory politicians for various misdeeds.

Or keeping politics out of sport after belting out ‘rule Britannia’ or ‘two world wars and one world cup’ etc

Quite!? Quite you say? Hmmm, yes. It is rather

To be honest you sound just like another chin stroker who's pobably thinks they're more intelligent than they actually are.

If you can't see why some people maybe be upset over it, to at least acknowledge it, but then to hit people with the racist tag, tells people all they need to know.

Anyway, nearly time to wack on the Australian Gold. Don't forget the sun cream lads.

If you’re tired of hearing about racism, imagine how tired some people are of experiencing it.
