Raphinha Is also South American which is obviously an issue. If we’d just bought Sancho when he was still at City we wouldn’t have the problems that come from getting a player from the bundesliga.

I can't believe people are taking about this with such conviction given its all based on speculation and rumour.
All we know is we made enquiries 2 seasons ago, and last season Dortmund told the world they wouldnt sell the player to anyone (wasn't specific to United) beyond a set deadline.

I think you will find its direct quotes from Zorc reported by numerous outlets about a month back. He said they had a gentlemen agreement from last summer that Sancho can leave this summer if certain conditions are met. But that there is no such agreement with Haaland.
In fact, I think he actually said that he could have left last summer, but that ultimately the conditions were not met. Which means we didn't bid enough.

From what Watkze and Zorc have said, I think it is both that we didn't bid enough/didn't bid enough in time.
It does seem that they set a deadline for that transfer and we tried to continue negotiations after that deadline.
Has a 2nd bid gone in yet?
