I don't agree with it. I want to see players doing something a bit more meaningful to combat racism without the fanfare.

Hopefully we can enjoy the summer and enjoy the football without the politics.

We need to get behind the team and stop the booing.

It’s run its course, time to stop.

I would however support a gesture that’s uniquely British/English

Still going with this proven false narrative I see

The players can hold hands, do a little dance whatever they like to fight racism but taking the knee is linked to a devisive political movement no matter what anyone says and should stop.

Hollow gesture

Agree I feel like sadly it’s got to the point where it’s actually doing more harm for reducing racism than good, it’s just turning into constant arguments and debates about taking the knee every game. We are not talking about reducing racism anymore and how we can tackle it it’s all the talk about the knee and if it’s right or wrong every single game every single week

And as I said originally I think it was good but now it’s just turning racism or making it look like a joke which it shouldn’t be and is totally wrong

Links to the political movement "BLM" has been used by those who have sought to undermine the anti-racism message. Taking the knee goes back to the civil rights movement in 1960's America.

Not really fussed if players take the knee or not but booing your own football team before kick off is somewhat bizarre. I'm sure it will really spur them on

How common knowledge is that? In recent history its indisputably linked to BLM.

And people have to come to their own decision as to whether BLM is a politically motivated organisation or not.

I’d suggest the snowflakes here are the ones booing their own players because they don’t like the way in which they’ve chosen to make their statement about the floods of racist abuse they face every working day of their lives.

Booing your own players is just weird, to be honest.

at the end of the day by taking the knee, how many how many racists do they actually think they are going to convert??
id say pretty much none.

id say a huge amount of the population arent racist at all, so what they are actually doing is just making it easier for the racists because they are shoving it in their faces every game.

The kick off against the Scots is going to be a farce.

We haven't got the same culture as the Yanks. If their American sports stars do it as a sign of respect fair enough. They've always done it, it's in their history.

It's not our culture

Now we look like we're taking it dry even before a ball is kicked

plus... you can just see it now... phil jones kneeling down in his first game back only to pull a muscle trying to get back up

You can dislike/disapprove of something without booing it

The only reason there's any kind of fanfare around taking the knee is because of the knuckledraggers that boo it. Within sport, it was supposed to be there to take a moment to make people reflect on the issues that are obviously there. No one should be forced to partake in any particular action if they don't want to, and some people do go too far the other way (X isn't kneeling, therefore racist). On the whole though, as long as people feel they should be protesting, they should continue to do so, else, stop. No organisation or group should be compelling people one way or the other.

People not being educated enough to understand where that gesture came from is entirely the problem (particularly in America), it may have co-opted by BLM (who, as an organisation, honestly, I don't know enough about to have a meaningful opinion) but the core point behind it is the same.

I don't understand the booing of your team (who in England's case is like, half black players) for it, but then 2 minutes later be cheering them on. Knuckledragging cvnts without any ability to critically think, the lot of em.

I wonder if they'll start to throw rotten fruit and veg at the players if it continues.

I’d hope the idiots booing the players for kneeling and say they’re doing it because they don’t want politics being mixed up with football also stop singing sings about the RA and chanting about winning world wars.

what is ironic is if you actually look online, a good percentage of all racial abuse actually comes from black people anyway.

angry africans are by far the worst

While that is mainly true, there are obviously issues here and in many other countries, and gestures often get picked up for use despite originating in a different country.

I hate to break this to you but the two have been intertwined for many years now, be it music, film, politics (special relationship anyone?), food etc etc

We may share the same interests. As do many cultures in the Western world and beyond.

Politically, I disagree.
