Kneeling solves nothing, just causes agro and division. Its a political symbol and a section of society don't like it. I'm a big Euro's fan and I wanna listen to coverage about the games and goals, not kneeling and booing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You know what else causes aggro and division.

Racism, and people feeling powerless against it.

There's a pretty large section of society that don't like this either.

Let's call it... the majority.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re non powerless against it though - that’s a self pitying cop-out

There’s plenty happening in our world today to stamp out racism, and I’m all for it

Sadly, taking the knee is nothing more than pointless, ineffective gimmick - but it allows the wokes of our world to believe they’re actually doing something
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't come across as all for it. Just basing that opinion on just about everything that you post on this website.

I agree. Grown men not switching on to watch someone taking a knee is pretty pathetic. Booing someone else's right to protest is pretty pathetic, too.

Still want the political kudos associated with supporting England, though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, it’s all pathetic, just like having a Post deleted because someone hasn’t got the education or communication skills to debate or discuss the contents

Almost as pathetic and witnessing grown men acting like sheep
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes Rev, but you do come over as a bit of a flag 5hagger.

What is it about taking the knee that sends grown white men into such paroxysms of anger and hate? I know what it is and it's not pretty.

It's the same reaction to Meghan Markle, Greta Thunberg, Marcus Rashford, migrants, The EU......

Seriously, why do folks get sooooooo worked up?

And why boo the team you purport to support? It's such a paradox, that it just makes me smile when I think about it.

Then when the opposition to those that are anti taking the knee starts, it usually takes the form of personal abuse about wokies, defunding the police, Marxism (which particular part of Marxist philosophy do you disagree with), commies, liberals and lefties.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
View, a lot of what I post and say on this site is purely in response to some of the pathetic wokeism and left wing loony-tunes that’s so rife on this site

It seems, going by their agenda, that if you don’t agree with them, you’re automatically labelled as a racist, right wing racist

It’s utterly pathetic, and shows such a lack of education and common sense

People have a right to boo, they have a right to demonstrate an opinion even if that opinion is beyond stupid.

I don't agree with taking the knee as I think more needs to be done than ritualistic tokenism but booing it is obviously harmful to certain segments of our society and should be discouraged.

Agreed - I haven’t booed, and won’t

But people totally have the right to do so if they disagree with such a pointless gimmick….especially when you get millionaire pundits and celebrities spouting their utter nonsense telling people need to be educated - how ironic is that

I'm always quite interested in the motivation of the right wing EDL type cheerleader. They don't like left wing politics, but like free schooling, free healthcare and the like.

I suspect it's because left wing coalitions traditionally include considerations for racial and gender equality, and LGBTQ rights, which is the nub of their problem with it.

There's been a fair few surveys that show the average Brit is economically left of centre and socially right of centre.

The Torys for all their many many faults get this. As did Blair.

I would happily take the knee to the groin of the person who started all this kneeling rubbish. I knelt in front of my wife to propose and I will kneel in front of the Queen if she wishes to bestow a knighthood on me. Nobody else.

Perhaps those against taking the knee, should take the knee in protest. Then everyone is happy as they are taking the knee for one reason or the other..

More seriously though, people become desensitised to these sorts of things. It is no longer impactful but i do not think there is any reason to protest against it as some still find it to be an important gesture.

Public floggings of racists on the pitch b4 kick off, now that could work
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it is having an impact. How many threads on it now? Some people resent other people protesting Usually the same people who think pashing on a statue will be seen as protecting said statue. Folk are funny.

The gesture of getting down on at least on knee is called genuflection. It is a very ancient gesture to show great respect to any superior. So your wife owns you and so does the Queen, peasant.

Personally don't really care that people kneel to highlight racism, but the booing doesn't show your distain for the gesture, more like it shows you're for racism. The action of booing reminds me of the slogan "defund the police" which sends out the wrong message in what they actually want to convey.

And I'm sure few of those who do boo are racist, just as a few who do kneel may feel like that they have to do it down to peer pressure.

All these protests and not one single thing was achieved. Shows that it was pointless and the issue is police brutality and not racisim.

Still like climate change, people like to go on marches after their parents have dropped them off in their suv from their air conditioned room, to feel good about themselves and pretend they are making a difference.

Whether you support the gesture or not, the most ridiculous comment was Southgate claiming that it isn't political. At least let us have an honest debate about the issue.

That is just contradictory

Firstly, booing does not show that you’re a racist - that’s just a ridiculous statement - I’m sure there may be a handful of those that boo who are racist, but by no means can you make a sweeping statement that everyone that boos are racist

Also, what about those who take the knee (and I bet there are a fair few) that take the knee, that have actually been mixed up in making racist remarks in the past - John Terry, Stuart Pearce etc

The fact is there is an element of racism within our country, as there is across the world in ALL nations

It is a deplorable stain on humanity

It’s been around since the year dot and it’ll continue to be around no matter how many people take the knee or protest - it’s built with the human DNA, there are racists in white people, black people, asian people across the globe

Taking the knee In football is a total cop-out, where the vast majority can hide behind a pointless gesture and give the impression that their making a stance - when the truth is, it really means nothing or achieves nothing except to cause more division between people

And that is EXACTLY what organisation such as BLM.org want to achieve

And the mugs that take the knee are playing right into their hands

Rupert Murdoch's New York Post?

Public Enemy even dedicated a song to this newspaper regarding their persistent negative coverage of the black community.

I don't know the truth or otherwise of this story, but it's as well to know the source you're getting it from.

Well, I don’t buy into the BLM.org philosophy, so if that makes me a racist, then I’m happy to be that - but I won’t be associated with any extremist organisation >

You don't buy into 'a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes'?

OK
