Trillions spent on stupid furlough scheme when any sane person could see the cure was to spend it on ventilators and hospital beds.

A whole year wasted by the tories and we are still no further forward.

Looks like the swedish were right and herd immunity was the only cure.

Do you know what the end-goal of the vaccination programme is?

Go on, give it a go.

Clearly not as all the vulnerabie are vaccinated and yet we are still in lockdown.

Explain that

Explain how herd immunity works? Isn't that your point? How do you manage to feed and clothe yourself?

Can you actually explain yourself rather than being hysterical?

And I have had the vaccine before you lose it

As I understand it, ventilators haven’t really been the difference-maker in treatment. And there’s no point having extra beds if there is nobody to staff them.

I agree that making a stronger health service is obviously one of the most important things you can do, but you do it way before a pandemic, not during one.

As for this extension of lockdowns, it’s very frustrating, yes. But I think it’s a question of 1) just monitoring the situation a while longer and b) getting as many second vaccine doses in as possible.

No, the vaccine isn’t useless. Without it, I doubt we’d be discussing a delay in the end of restrictions, as there’d be no end in sight to delay.

The thing that worries me about lockdown going on endlessly is the government don’t seem to be learning lessons regarding border control, I’m sure if there’s another strain from another far flung part of the planet, our borders will remain open to all who wish to travel here from such places

I mean, time to monitor the new “Delta” variant and its implications for vaccine efficacy in reducing hospitalisations etc.

It is annoying that coronaviruses mutate but, like you say, they do.

Herd immunity the only cure? FFS op

The vaccination programme is having a huge positive effect. Another four weeks will allow millions more to get the vaccine whilst slowing down the spread of the Delta variant.

It’s a no brainer. Compared to you being a no brain 👍

The vaccine doesn’t prevent transmission of the virus, it stimulates a stronger immune response should you catch it. This is particularly important among the vulnerable and the evidence shows that those becoming more unwell with it of late are also those that haven’t been vaccinated, so no it isn’t a waste of time at all. We are likely to be in an extended lockdown still because the Delta variant has been spreading quickly as it is more easily transmissible and it is sensible to take precautions. It’s not rocket science. I don’t know why people are whinging, how much in reality are you unable to do currently that you would ordinarily do? A few inconveniences sure, but my week to week life is relatively normal under current guidelines.

You might want to google what constitutes a variant. It isnt even classed a variant from the original covid scientifically

Little sheep just believe the media.

As usual those on furlough want this to extend indefinitely. You do realise the bill is coming soon

This is certainly a huge issue, the nation would be in a better place at the moment if the borders were secure and the delta variant had no entered the country.

unfortunately we have possibly the most incompetent self serving people at the head of government.
