BBC Excuses

100%. They should have switched to the studio. Crying players, crying fans, crying wife of the player!!! It shouldn't have got that far. The sheer fact the Danish team felt the need to surround Eriksen so he got privacy says it all. The media, for all the portray themselves as sympathetic, are always looking for the first picture, regardless of how tragic that may be.

Agree with this - they should have at least acknowledged their mistake in that regard.

We live in an unfiltered world, unfortunately showing the footage leaves a lasting imprint that people will remember the BBC broadcast.

Seems bizarre to me that people who chose to sit and watched those dreadful scenes then become enraged about the broadcaster broadcasting it.

To be fair to BBC, I think they handled it OK, and were in as much shock as the rest of us. If that had been a Sky broadcast, they would probably have had Kay Burley airlifted up their in minutes to give a running commentary.

Anyway thankfully it looks like there is a happy ending to this shocking event.

Yet another internet warrior getting all upset and angry about this

Just accept the apology made and get on with life instead of making a massive drama about an insignificant part of a very traumatic incident.

Who cares.

Somebody nearly died on a football pitch, and your focus is on camera angles, that you were apparently forced to watch.

Be glad ITV weren't near it....they'd have had relevant ad breaks lined up & allsorts

Fack the BBC, me and the mrs saw this ill man being hit by a defibrillator shock.
I don’t have a connection to him apart from football but just think if you did.

Well done to his teammates for taking quick action and the medical staff for saving his life.

Was horrific to watch, cut to the studio next time please and showing his wife crying

Yeah the most important thing is that it looks like he's going to be at least relatively okay. And you're right on the Sky thing. I arrived home after a few drinks on Friday night and Sky Sports News were genuinely showing a 10 minute tribute to Jim White (the transfer deadline day guy) because he'd decided to partially retire. God only knows how they'd have covered yesterday's events live if they were showing the game but I'm pretty sure they'd have turned it into a breaking news extravaganza

If you feel you have to make this tragic episode a BBC bashing opportunity you need to get a grip yourself.

That’s because people are idiots and need something to rage against, hence articles like this.

If it upset you all so much, why not just use your remote and turn over.

It's annoying that blame even has to be attached during an event like this. People getting upset that they had to get upset over it because the camera was lingering too long. They could have cut to the studio earlier but let's not make a meal of it. Eriksen has recovered, that's all that matters. Move on.

I never get this argument. What you're saying is that people should be able to say whatever the hell they like and the onus is on those listening to change the channel. The whole "change the channel" argument is dreadful. Again, I don't think BBC should be hung, drawn and quartered for their distasteful coverage, but at the same time the change the channel argument is crap

Right. Someone comes on the tv and says "all black people are bad." We should just change the channel and ignore it? I know that's not what's happened here but your change the channel argument supports this. Mate, it's ridiculously stupid

So is this outage. If they’d cut away they’d get just as much abuse, ‘hung drawn and quartered’ get a grip, step down from the soapbox dude.

But we need to get this straight. So if someone was spouting hate speech, then we should change the channel? Or should we complain? Or should we only complain if it fits in with your ideals in terms of what is okay?

And if they had cut away, they damn sure would not have got abuse for it. They seem to very easily cut away when fat naked guys get into the pitch with their hairy see men hanging out. So I don't think a man battling for his life is something that would be that difficult to cut away from, not would literally any sane human being have complained

This a stupid argument. Couldn’t you come up with something more similar to the incident that you are so outraged about?

It’s a nice day, go out and have some fun, cheer up. Stop getting worked up over silly things
