sorry to hear that, met the guy once and he is a lovely wee fella.

He always seemed to me to be a guy who always had time for the fans, no matter the situation.

Met him every time we went to CP although that seems like the distant past now.

A gentleman.

So sad to hear that.

It was Bertie that started ' For It's A Grand ' in the Lisbon tunnel.

i'm obviously too young to remember the lines because not old and decrepit.

Auld always struck me as the one most relatable to the celtic support, if i had to one of them out as being "one of us" it would be him.

Should have got him 10.

Bertie is just one end of the gregarious scale of social interaction. Most of the rest were pretty quiet and dignified in public so made Bertie stand out. Together or in private they would all be at it.

Met him many times. Mostly in hospitality. Felt sorry for him if any of what he did was an act. He was good with the young ones though even they got suspicious once they'd heard the same routine 3 or 4 times. However, all in all a good character.

Agreed.

The only 2 LL's I've had personal contacts with [ the 2 JC's ] inferred that

Bertie was actually a bit shy most of the time but would rise to moments

of emotion such as prematch or interviews.

A great player and human being.
