Euro 2020 Final

I think they've been good and very well organised, but thought Denmark more than matched them for 80 minutes or so until they ran out of steam.

Thought the difference last night (aside from fitness) was the quality off the bench. When Denmark made their five subs, it visibly weakened them as the quality wasn't the same. I don't think the same can be said for the England changes.

Dive aside, I thought Sterling has been terrific throughout the tournament and has been easily their best player. If Italy can stop him then they should have enough in their tank to get the job done.

Denmark passed the ball out well, with speed and great ball control but in that final third the passing seemed really poor - what you'd see in 5 a sides. It reduced them to losing the ball more often than nought and having to start defending again quickly

I said a couple of weeks ago I thought England could win this tournament without playing that well. Last night confirmed that.

England have had an incredibly easy ride to the final. Denmarks first eleven were good but they took off a few of the players that had really made the difference for them and they offered nothing going forward after that.

They were like Wales if they had taken off Bale, Ramsay and Allen after an hour.

Italy are capable of winning it though and they will be well up for it. They have been my favourite team to watch so far.

I am not overly convinced by Immobile - hes a bit of an Italian Jason Cummings for me.

As much as Italy can win it - unfortunately I think England are starting to believe they hype and I think they will do it. Maybe after extra time.

The reality is Englands squad is very very strong. FFS...they brought on a £100m sub last night then took him off again.

I really detest the way Kane plays the game. The constant falling over is extremely frustrating (although not as frustrating as the referee buying it every time), but also the way he leans into defenders when they're in the air to cause them to lose balance and land awkwardly. He endangers his opponent in every game and it's a scandal he doesn't get pulled up for it.

He sticks his arrse into the defender and then falls over. They are the biggest cheats in history. They will have the cheek to have a go at Italy for their antics too when they lose.

By the way, speaking of referees, the difference between the two refs across the semi final was huge. Thought the German ref who did the Spain-Italy game was tremendous, but the Dutch guy last night was awful throughout - fell for every dive, was inconsistent in what he was giving and what he wasn't and generally had a poor game.

On the penalty, unless he was 100% sure, he should have waited for VAR to alert him to a possibly penalty incident. That's what it's there for. In a game of that magnitude he should have utilised the tech to make sure the right decision was made. Once he gave it, VAR was never going to rule it out because there had been the slightest bit of contact between the players.

Its 'clever play' by Kane apparently

Fookin pathetic.

He never seems to fall over in the box when hes trying to get a shot off. But anywhere outside the box he goes down easier than <insertcelticpostersname>'s maw.

One of the things with Denmark is they are a country around the same size as ours. When people say Scotland should be doing better than they are countries like them and Croatia are an example as to why.

You see the way they play and then look at their players and our guys are playing at a similar level to theirs yet our approach is to go long to a 6ft+ striker like something from the 70s. They were class throughout and didn't deserve to go out that way last night.

Genuinely think its a 50/50 game.

If there's any justice Italy should win it, England cheating for the penalty, laser pen in the keepers eyes while taking it and being English all reasons to want them to lose.

Reading through some interesting comments on England "cheating". It's the nature of the modern game, be it at club or international level for players to "seek an advantage" It is cheating, but it is part of the game, like it or not. Also any comment that talks about justice and Italy winning it is most amusing as they were probably one of the first league's/nations to adopt the dark arts!

Agree Wilko. It's also up to the ref to act on it, if players cheat they are taking a chance as they give the ref a decision to make.

Personally I don't think anything last night was cheating. Harry Kane is an experienced top striker who used his body and his experience to draw fouls that weren't fouls.

Sterling I think has had really harsh criticism. It's 100 minutes in to the game and he's running at full pace, it probably only takes a gust of wind to knock you over at that stage and there is a brush from the defender on the shoulder. Never a pen in a million years but he didn't cheat. Ultimately I'd rather be accused of cheating like Kane and Sterling and in a final than sat at home after finishing bottom of the groups and knocked out in the first round complaining about other countries.

Scotland are one game away from being the only side not to lose to England - a huge shot at glory for yourselves

Denmark also drew with England over 90 minutes just like we did.

In terms of the cheating- I think it’s about how far you take it, how obvious it is and how well the ref does win dealing with it.

Take Jose’s Porto team - almost unwatchable because of the diving and time wasting. But the ref let it happen.

There was a Netherlands game in the tournament where Depay tried a ‘Harry Kane’ about three times in the first 15 minutes. The ref never gave him a foul once and told him to get up.

Depay stopped going out his way to try and win free kicks because every time he went down without a foul he lost the ball.

England fans just want their team to win so they are hardly going to care.

I wanted to watch a good game of footy and it just frustrates the life out of me every time Kane went down unnecessarily.

England have good enough players not to have to resort to that pash.

draw fouls that aren't fouls?

so you don't like cheating? playacting? poor sportsmanship what word should we attach to that.

and the excuse that "they all do it" "it's just the modern game" is all BS at every level it's cheating and it's pathetic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Crystal, I agree that it is cheating, but isn't it now a case of "if you can't beat them, join them"?

I suppose it might be what generation of football fan you are?

Newer fans see this kinda behaviour all the time and accept it somewhat, us older fans still find it abhorrent and a blight

It won't change however so I just accept it and move on, it's still annoying however

Sterling is a cheating diving wee whankstain

Even for the 1st goal , have a look at him ... trying to win a penalty
I'm sorry but England are horrible to watch and Italy should have enough to beat them . Italy deserve it

My Great Gran and Granda were from Sicily so will be behind the Italians Sunday, it's a lottery who will win it imo though
