It is weird the agenda against him on this site. Not something I see in real life. He's a national hero, world class striker and a fine upstanding man to boot.

I'm afraid that those people who harp on about form in the group games just don't understand tournament football.
Historically, the winners of World Cups or Euros have been slow starters (some even just scraping through their groups) and then built momentum and performed when it really counts - in the knockout rounds.

Watching the match yesterday, he was playing as a midfielder, hanging around the middle line and passing to the wingers. He is a striker.

I think England's slow start, and that of Kanes, simply reflected the fact that that team and lineup had not really played together consistently. Players like Saka Foden Shaw Phillips have not been mainstays in the team, theyve played their way in this season.
The more time they spend on the pitch together the better understanding they get and the better we play. We have got better and better and although Kane is undoubtedly world class, he needed time to settle in this team and get some confidence. Everyone, not just Kane, has got better & better

Well it is really. If Kane is not scoring or assisting, not a lot of others are. Sterling is going through a Purple patch, but before that scored what three goals in about 40 odd games. Whereas Kane has consistently scored goals and assisted during the whole of his England career.
Very doubtful England would have made a WC semi or Euro final without Kane.

One positive I take for England going into the final is that Italy IMO peaked early in those group games and have laboured their way through the KO rounds. England have done the reverse, starting poorly and improving as the compress gone on - much better to peak later in the tournament.
Kane himself is a microcomputer of this. Poor in the first two games, average at best vs CZ, better against Germany and went on to have a hand in the first and score the second. Better again against Ukraine, now playing with confidence, scoring twice and fingernails away from a perfect hat trick had that volley gone in. And his best game was the semi final - great hold up played, created numerous chances for Sterling, slide rule pass for Saka to create the first goal, scored the winner. It’s much better this way than smashing the group and burning out, tournament football is a marathon not a sprint.
Those criticising him for coming deep must see that with the way Southgate sets up there is little creativity in the midfield, with the emphasis being on runners Hutton the oppo with pace. That drags Kane into a deeper position to be the playmaker for them. You can see the difference when Grealish is on because he offers that creative outlet, retains possession and creates space for others - notably Kane - which is why you’ll see Kane further forward when Grealish is there. Mount wasn’t offering that last night, hence Kane acting as a creative player.

Ace, my only worry about Italy is that they are on a 33 game International run, and you don`t get that sort of record without having something about you. I think it is 50/50 the final, maybe favouring England because of the crowd and playing at home, but Italy because of their long unbeaten record.

Funny. It's a Harry Kane appreciation thread. Acknowledging what Kane has done for the team in this tourno.....some still want to highlight what he's failed to do and this follows the general theme that people like to knock Kane. No one has played brilliantly in every game. Do people remember the Scotland match? Kane was far from alone in giving a poor display. Kane, like the team, has begun to hit form when it matters

One positive I take for England going into the final is that Italy IMO peaked early in those group games and have laboured their way through the KO rounds. England have done the reverse, starting poorly and improving as the compress gone on - much better to peak later in the tournament.
Kane himself is a microcomputer of this. Poor in the first two games, average at best vs CZ, better against Germany and went on to have a hand in the first and score the second. Better again against Ukraine, now playing with confidence, scoring twice and fingernails away from a perfect hat trick had that volley gone in. And his best game was the semi final - great hold up played, created numerous chances for Sterling, slide rule pass for Saka to create the first goal, scored the winner. It’s much better this way than smashing the group and burning out, tournament football is a marathon not a sprint.
Those criticising him for coming deep must see that with the way Southgate sets up there is little creativity in the midfield, with the emphasis being on runners Hutton the oppo with pace. That drags Kane into a deeper position to be the playmaker for them. You can see the difference when Grealish is on because he offers that creative outlet, retains possession and creates space for others - notably Kane - which is why you’ll see Kane further forward when Grealish is there. Mount wasn’t offering that last night, hence Kane acting as a creative player.

Ace, my only worry about Italy is that they are on a 33 game International run, and you don`t get that sort of record without having something about you. I think it is 50/50 the final, maybe favouring England because of the crowd and playing at home, but Italy because of their long unbeaten record.

It is weird the agenda against him on this site. Not something I see in real life. He's a national hero, world class striker and a fine upstanding man to boot.

Well it is really. If Kane is not scoring or assisting, not a lot of others are. Sterling is going through a Purple patch, but before that scored what three goals in about 40 odd games. Whereas Kane has consistently scored goals and assisted during the whole of his England career.
Very doubtful England would have made a WC semi or Euro final without Kane.

Ok mate,you just crack on living in your own world where Kane is everything, the mere mortals around him are merely props that are lucky to be breathing the same air as him, he doesn't fall over easily and has been outstanding every game.

I read through most of those comments and they were generally saying that he's not been playing well, which he wasn't at the time, no one said he is chit, just that he was playing chit at that time..

Funny. It's a Harry Kane appreciation thread. Acknowledging what Kane has done for the team in this tourno.....some still want to highlight what he's failed to do and this follows the general theme that people like to knock Kane. No one has played brilliantly in every game. Do people remember the Scotland match? Kane was far from alone in giving a poor display. Kane, like the team, has begun to hit form when it matters

Can't stand the guy when he's playing for Spurs, his record against us is ridiculous.
