Completely agree OP, but people are enjoying it and its best to let them enjoy it. I love International football tournaments, but im pretty much a neutral just seeking entertaining matches. Just think the nation are well overplaying the occasion. This is to go 1 better than Scotland, Wales and San Marino, not to overtake Brazil on 5 world cups. They're suggesting that's its some incredible achievement although playing at home in every match against lesser nations with a team of premier league players is pretty much what's expected tbh.

I think the moaning is a by product of waiting for the match to kick. Another 24+ hours to go for the love of god.
Meh it is what it is. It doesn’t neccessarily annoy me but it is interesting phenomenon how much the hype of England going far in these tournaments incentivises everyone.
Literally all of my mates who claim to be thoroughly disinterested at football always get into it in some form, some surprisingly so. Even myself, when I watch England at home on my own I’m not THAT bothered. But watching it at the pub or with mates it’s hard to not get infected by the pashun.

Alot depends on how you are wired up as a person.
If you're a happy clappy nicey nicey individual who enjoys a royal wedding street party then all this ott children singing at Trippiers old Primary school type stuff will sit well with you.
However if you're a edgy contrary facker like me who doesn't like to run with the crowd then its hard work getting behind England.
I shall be avoiding the news for the rest of weekend and turning on the match 5 mins before kick off.
International tournaments aren’t really (just) for the traditional football fan. It’s more about getting the whole nation into football for the month. For better or worse. It would be boring if a nation made it to the final and no one but football fans were interested. That’s what I miss about England - how exciting the place is when a national team (be it football, cricket, tennis or rugby) does well.

I'm fully and full-throatedly on the bandwagon for England at the moment.
