On the plus side sm helps kids form opinions of their own as opposed to being told what to think by their parents and teachers.
On the down side most of these opinions are from influencers on who should win love island.
Seriously, even kids hear about the monarchy and their first thought is wtf rather than doffing their caps.

Others expect better from their club and voice their concerns.

Obviously it was created in completely different times. Maybe we do need to come up with something more up to date, but I just dread to think what it would end up being.
I’m fine with it as it is, I just don’t think too much about the words, it’s has the ability to be rousing if there’s a stadium full of fans singing it.

You can love your country just like you can love a football club. Some people support it blindly, the club could charge them tonnes for a very mediocre product while wealthy owners pocket the money and they'd still unquestionably lap it all up. Others expect better from their club and voice their concerns.
It's not unpatriotic to think/hope/want your own country to do better, whether it's something as seemingly trivial as national anthems to more important things like education, foreign policy or something else like sports.
If anything it's far more patriotic to not have blind faith and love for everything, to not be a lapdog who'll be happy licking the arris of whomever sits on top of a failing state

The amount of people that say this and then go on to spend hours crying about criticism of the Tory’s. It’s almost as if you’re ashamed to admit it.
It’s the new ‘I’m not racist but……’
I’m not Tory but will defend them to the hilt for some reason.
