Sounds easy when you make it simplistic.

Which it isn’t.

Private companies competing in space could accelerate our knowledge of the universe, earth and technological advances which could eventually wipe out famine and disease plus our destruction of the planet.

Like Silver says, it really is not a simplistic issue. The bastirts should pay their feecking taxes in full though.

Private companies love equality and sustainability.

The number of unexpected or at least unintended benefits from space exploration over the years are massive. We know so much about global warming that we wouldn't have if it wasn't for that exploration. The part that space science plays in monitoring food production in those undeveloped countries is vital. During NASA's peak years there was an 8 dollar return on every dollar spent. Attacking funding on space exploration is short sighted. Many other wastes of money to focus on first.

Obviously they don’t - but it’s the new vast sums in money that get pumped into it that leads to greater breakthroughs

And governments do?

Wee reminder - if it wasn’t for private companies government would have fook all to waste, er, spend.

Haven’t they already discovered water on Mars?
Just need to rig a pipeline to drought hit countries and it’s all been worthwhile

Ok thanks for that.

Now, can we hear from someone that isn't insane?

You may say it’s for ego, but many people can see the merit/necessity of space exploration. The technological advances of a Martian space race will benefit and safeguard the future of humanity. Over population is a huge problem and so pandemics are inevitable.

Hopefully Branson stays there the khunt

You could say the same about the billions spent on a competition where two teams of multi millionaires kick a leather ball around to been crowned champions of a competition that, ultimately, means nothing. Whilst moving all over Europe in a pandemic. As someone said above, it sounds easy when you make it simplistic.

T-minus 34 minutes and holding.

All the best to Branson and everyone on board. Hope the weather has cleared up and everything goes according to plan.
