and the last game didn’t help make us be seen as fair players with diving.

…..

Compared to who?

Well, compared to Italy as they are who we are playing…
There has been a narrative in European media over the last few days that we are not honest winners with diving and laser pointing. The FA was fined for the laser and booing over Denmark’s national anthem I believe.

Cannot call it atm but good luck anyway, hope it's a great match with loads of goals but think it will be a tight affair

The real danger in this game will be midfield. Can our defenders and deep midfielders play out under pressure from Italy's superior players in midfield?
I see Lambeau Leap farther up showing the tactical awareness of a pomegranate in wanting to start Sancho in this game, but this is definitely a game for players who can stretch midfield with triangles, intelligent play on the turn and smart positioning.
We have enough attacking talent to trouble Italy, to put it mildly. Getting out into the wide spaces, we can do a lot of damage. Their centre backs are, of course, incredibly intelligent players, but Kane should be able to give them enough to think about whilst Sterling and Saka cause issues.

The worse the quality of the game, the better it will be for England. A dull, stodgy affair would suit us well.

Wow. Have you ever watched Italy.

The Italians have had a tough competition so they will be tired. If England get ahead and the Italians have to chase the game and run around a lot they will be even more tired. So if one of them has to run from his own half to get into our penalty area he will be so tired that he might fall over if a puff of wind hits him.
I hope we have a good ref.
Similarly, I hope England don't get any "soft" decisions through "crowd influence".
Where's Collinari when you need him?

Are you actually handing to moral high ground to Italian football? Where have you been for forty years?

But Sterling plays for us

it's utter nonsense of course, but people do love a simple narrative - english complain about foreigners diving for years, now look at them - and it does seem to have been readily adopted by some of the foreign press, and of course by assorted wums and morons on here.

It’s Kuipers. Not the best but decent and could certainly have been worse.

Someone posted this the other day just in case there was the odd person that was of the belief Italy don’t cheat.

italy 3-1 et, cos they are more ruthless

We will win 2-0.

Kane and Rashford (yes, Marcus will come off the bench to seal the win by scoring his first of the tournament)

Italy will win 1-0.

I’ve predicted a loss for almost every game in this tournament. So don’t want to jinx it now.

2-0 Italy.

Another Chiesa wonder goal after Jorginho slots in a pen.

I’d absolutely love England to win but I just don’t think we’ll turn up

Plumpy you need to visit a bookmakers before 8.00pm with insight like this

Tough to call this one. Home advantage should be the difference.

posted on 11/7/21

It’s not a UTD thing, but I thought, maybe Starting with Rashford and Sterling on the flanks, to go for a counter attacking style. Cos I think the Italians will have more possession.
However, not gonna question Gareth.
I think Italy will win, but, home advantage cannot be ruled out. England have got better as it’s gone along, and have controlled all their matches.

If Eng are gonna win, then it has to be Penalties innit.
Don’t expect more than 3 goals. So 2-1 Italy in the 90.
But come on England!!! Bring it home!!!

posted on 11/7/21

With England's history at penalty shoot-outs I would think that's the last thing they want.

Actually I'm with Plump. One little incident, slice of luck
mistake can settle it. That's why I've gone for penalties, I think it's so close

I bet on England, so they are probably going to lose.

Sorry.

posted on 11/7/21

I think a 1-1 and going all the way is very possible. There will be very little between the two sides

Certainly not, I was just answering VC regarding a comparison and as we are only playing Italy I said them - it couldn’t be anyone else.
