Champions League Qualifying Draw

Would fancy our chances over 2 legs against any of those but clearly would prefer to avoid Malmo or Ferencvaros.

Like you - would prefer winner on Alashkert v Tiraspol though.

Forgot to add - for Celtic, IF they get past the Midgets then I can't see them going any further given who their possible opponents could be.

I honestly can see them struggling against the Midgets TBH.

St Johnstone get their draw today as well.

Nightmare stuff for them tbh. One of the losers of

PSV Eindhoven (NED) / Galatasaray (TUR)
Rapid Wien (AUT) / Sparta Praha (CZE)

So they are fooked.

That is nasty for St Johnstone. You have to feel a bit sorry for them.

If we cannot beat any of those teams we might be up against then we certainly don't deserve to be in the CL- simple as that.

Celtic look like they have left it far too late wrt players coming in so they have to hope Angie is a bit of a miracle worker. Think the Midgets have squad problems of their own though so that may offer a ray of hope.

It probably 50/50 for Celtic at this early stage?

And in the Europa Conference it's not much easier for Aberdeen or Hibs.

Winner of Hibs v Santa can get :

Gent v Valerenga
Drita v Feyenoord
Gzira Unted v Rijeka
Pacos de Ferreira

Winners of Aberdeen v BK Hacken can get :

Viktoria Plzen v Dynamo Brest
PAOK Salonika
Molde v Servette
Austria Vienna v Breidablik

Wouldn't fancy either of those two against any of the favourites in those ties or the two already in that round.

On paper would be the favourites for any of the teams we get but think some people are getting ahead of themselves. There's never been an easy CL qualifier that I can remember and time of year makes it a bit of a nightmare.

Remember as well these games are 2 weeks away and Morelos, Helander and Barisic aren't even back for pre season yet whilst Kamara and Roofe suspended. Add in Kent only having 45 minutes under his belt and Defore likely out and it starts to look a bit trickier.

Ferencvaros put Celtic out last season at Parkhead and although not world beaters it's an indication it wouldn't be a walkover. Malmo have a good pedigree as well and will be well in their season. Aleshkart would be the best tie we could hope for, the others are tough at this time of year.

I fancy Celtic to beat the midgets but that could change when i see the team they put out.

If they are at it and he uses the best players at the club they will win.

If Ajer is still their player he should be starting.

GK Woods
LB Taylor
CB Ajer
CB Bitton / Welsh
RB Urghogheid (or anyone that's not Ralston)
CM Soro
CM McGregor
CM Turnbull
LW Abada
RW Forrest
FW Edouard

Should have enough.

Fair points, we've been caught cold enough times we should know better but we don't

The suspensions i wouldn't worry about too much, actually helpful in a way that they would be available for potentially trickier ties. Morelos being at the Copa i think might actually help as he's had less time to be eating pies.

There is more chance of us getting hold of that kind of money via a euromillions ticket right now.

That said, if that was all that had to be done to be in with a chance, our board would still find a way to f... it up.

"our numbers came up! we've won 100 million"

"eh about that, we didn't get a ticket"

"whit? why?"

"we ran out of time"

I dont think it will be easy by any stretch.

We should have Morelos, Sakala and Itten as CF options for these games. Not ideal but I would be hopeful they would be enough.

I just feel if we are serious about getting to the CL group stages we should be expecting to get through against these types of teams.

I would be expecting a much tougher tie in the next round if we get there.

How does it work btw?

If we lose this qualifier is it the play off round of the EL we go into or is there still 2 qualifying rounds?

And if we get through this round of CL qualifiers then lose the next round do we go into the EL play off round or straight into the groups?

Its is a pretty complicated set up these days....

Bizarrely

The Champions Path losers will be transferred to the Europa League play-off round, while the League Path losers will be transferred to the Europa League group stage.

So if Celtic lose (in the next round) they go into the groups of the Europa but were we to lose in that same round we would go into the Europa play-offs.

Fck knows why that is.

It continues to amuse me that you have kept your username to troll England football fans. Right on. 55 years of hurt has ruined them 👍

Totally agree, not trying to be negative about it just think we're a few weeks away at the moment from being completely ready. There's several players who haven't even started pre season yet as above and two of our better first team players suspended.

We absolutely should be able to win these games to get near the groups but it never works that way. Rangers and Celtic have been on the end of some shockers at this stage over the years and I'm not convinced we're in the best shape for these games just now tbh.

I have absolutey no faith in us beating Midgyland, so we won't be facing any of the more difficult teams.

Still don't understand why Ange has kept on JK and the ipad guy.
