I think it's inevitable that we will be in lockdown again in a couple of months. The Johnson strain is proceding as planned.

No we won’t

I think we probably will and it's probably a good idea.

The Euros required a proof vaccine and/or negative test.

Covid hasnt gone away and so if we want some pretty basic freedoms back, like going to games, it is probably best that these sort of measures are in place to add some degree of caution to opening up big events.

More than 90% of adults have had 1 jab and nearly 70% double jabbed so in a month those figures will be higher still.

Not so sure. Fans are in the open air and as you say a significant percentage of the U.K. will have been fully vaccinated.

What I can see happening is the return of masks as mandatory on public transport and the like and maybe social distancing in hospitality.

Yes, I think some kind of lockdown is coming again Eddie. I think they are opening now, just to get a good few weeks in before the inevitable happens again.

Fans are in the open air watching the game agreed, what about pre game and half time, when they all flood into the enclosed bar areas?

I like the fact that the choice is now been given to the individual.

IMO, if you think its ok to not wear a mask on public transport then good luck to you....natural selection will kill off the idiots and the UK gene pool will be better for it!

Problem is those without masks will be spreading it to those with.

Who knows what Boris will do. The only thing you can guarantee is there will be a u-turn at some point on most of the things he says. Ultimately he will just follow the public mood and do whatever he thinks makes him more popular, all whilst claiming to be following the data.

Amazing how people still haven't got their head around the fact you primarily wear the mask to protect others from yourself, rather than to protect yourself from others.

It'll be tricky if kids still aren't able to get vaccinated. Might be the only thing that stops it or I guess kids will get a free pass to be exposed/expose

I honestly think the worst decision they have made is saying double jabbed people don't need to isolate.

So for example I'm double jabbed and me Julie gets covid, I show no symptoms what so ever but have it also and go to work. Woulnt I potentially be passing it around?

That’s exactly what they’re working towards

Effectively turn COVID into flu with vaccines, otherwise the country will be on its knees when people keep on isolating for ten days. The economy can survive with people taking a couple of days off but not a third of your office staff cuz they’ve all been in contact

Not too fussed as I’m double jabbed, so If means I got to provide proof of being double jabbed to get in places, then that’s fine by me. As for masks, the vast majority have disposed of the face nappies. Nobody should be frowned upon if they don’t want to wear a mask. What was the point of the vaccine? I’m a young guy, double jabbed, so I’ll take my chances without a mask. Frankly it’s a bloody relief not to keep putting those bloody things on every time I enter a shop. Not to mention with the weather so hot.

No matter what happens there will be a sizeable proposition who would like nothing better than practical lockdown for all time.

Protected by the state; don’t go out much; never really visit a pub but would like it quiet and table service without the need to queue with oiks, reserved table if they go out for a meal, never go to nightclubs or other such horrendous places; don’t like crowds or groups of people; avoid public transport and if holiday; prefer to do it in the U.K.

And the rest want to live a free life and are prepared to take some restrictions for a given length of time, whose patience is wearing thin.

Personally I would take any steps necessary to get things back to some normality. If showing vaccine certificates gets me to my first game in 18 months, I'll do it, don't care for the 10% that aren't getting vaccinated (unless they have a geniune reason - pregnant, weak immune system but then they probably shouldn't be going to crowded venues at the moment).

Government have jumped the gun with the full unlocking. If we waited another month, then that 60% with two doses becomes 90% and the chances of it spreading drop significantly.

I will still be wearing my mask Don. Not expecting to be taking it off anytime in the near future. Makes sense to keeps masks if it stops the spread.

Every day that passes with any business not breaking even, far less making money has a cumulative effect on its viability. It’s not just another day. It’s exponential damage as cash reserves are used up and debts increase.

That`s not true though, nobody likes being locked down, but I also want to live for a bit longer. This is a highly infectious disease, and doctors and nurses must be wondering what they have been doing for the past 18 months trying to save lives, when some people are just not going to follow any rules because of their own selfishness.

Imagine if everybody packed up in World War II after 18 months saying they were all bored.

posted on 20/7/21

Sandy. People used to be far less selfish.

The sense of doing something for the greater good would inspire people to make a sacrifice.

Now, despite wearing a mask proven to protect yourself and others, people will not make the smallest of sacrifices like wearing one in a shop because "they're uncomfortable" or "it's too hot".

Your comparison with WWII is slightly off but certainly they would laugh at people now. We don't feckin know what a true sacrifice is. Having to wear a mask in enclosed public spaces.....ahhh, poor little lambs!
