Ah right on cue the City fans getting all touchy about this subject
Hopefully only a matter of time before the truth comes out and it all comes crashing down for them. They still have 0 champions leagues to show for it as well.

“Despite City's small status at the time, this deal was on a par with the biggest sponsorship deals in the world of football. By way of comparison, @ £40m a year it exceed Arsenal's (£30m) and United's shirt deal (£20m) which was the biggest ever shirt deal when signed in 2009.“
When it was initially signed, it absolutely was overpriced. That’s not really a comparable though as it was for the shirt sponsorship, stadium and training ground (and for the latter, we did at least build a new training ground with it)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is that it was sooo over market value at the time that no sensible sponsor would sign up to it, which is the clearest indication of wrong doing.
Old money hates new money.

Boris on the ropes here
The truth will out
Keep it up, you’re brightening up my morning.
….and anyone who thinks £20m a year for both stadium AND shirt sponsorship is excessive must be living in the 1970’s

I don’t have an issue with City myself, but it always makes me laugh how Boris tries to deflect and convince everyone that Sheikh Mansour is nothing more than a lifelong City fan and grandson of a local corner shop owner who invested the families meager savings into the club and turned them into a power house through nothing more than astute business acumen.
Cue Boris going on (and on) about Utd’s leaky roof or Joe Lewis being a ‘traitor’ in 3,2,1...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t have an issue with City either in fact it was good someone broke the monopoly of the sky 4 consistently so the same 4 sides weren’t rammed down our throats all season long
But they haven’t organically grown as some city fans seem to imply ….it’s all been bought but I wouldn’t complain if it was tottenham it happened too but equally I’d definitely be saying we were lucky and wonthe lottery
Chelsea the same although to a certain extent they were still good before the riches but city were a nobody

Fact is it could have been any club. Newcastle could be the richest club in the world with Pep as a manager and winning most things available.

Yep they got lucky
It would be refreshing for city fans to recognise and admit it rather than trying to justify spending millions as though it was earned
Whether they cheated financially or not is another question but they definitely cheated the sport
I’ve never seen any city fan ever say they were “organically grown”. It would be stupid for fans of lots of teams to say that, ours in particular. It would be equally stupid to say we cheated the sport too though, unless you also think we were cheated by it ourselves for twenty five years.
How long does ‘organic growth’ take?
Fair play to Ciiteh owners they are spending their own money to improve the club...
Whereas, looters and United owners are stealing (in form of dividends) fans money..
Particularly, looters are getting lemonade football for champagne 🍾 prices 😁
