It's hard to blame them to be honest. Tomori is 23, Guehi is 21 and probably feel they're at an age that they need regular 1st team football to progress their careers. To do that they have had to move and at the end of the day, they're probably too old now to be described as academy players.
No doubt the younger players coming up behind them relate to the situation and don't see a path to the 1st team either - in Liveramento's case he sees James and Dave in front of him and no prospect of regular 1st team football.
It's sad that they feel like that as there's many that could save us a fortune in transfer fees in the future but you can only fit so many in a squad, which is why I personally feel we should be getting rid of a lot of the deadwood, experienced players to make way for them and giving them a chance to affect the managers thinking!

Further signs the academy is becoming a victim of its own success..it’s been reported before that clubs in PL and Europe are seeing the success our academy has at creating decent top 5 league players. And so keeping an eye on players coming through.
Even with our change to treatment of academy players since Lampard it must be a good sell for players like Lamptey and Guehi to go to a decent PL club and be assured of 30+ league games a season.
The Twitter TL is understandably upset but I think when I see it like this it just is what it is..you can’t fault the club for the pathway for academy players since Lampard. Even for players like Tomori and Tammy are have left/could leave it’s still been a good catapult for their career.
The glass half full prospective is the sign of a really great academy is some players won't making it even if they're good enough. Just gotta trust the club cherry pick the right ones - and have buy back clauses on any sold players!
I will say we can't let the KDB & Salah sales haunt us forever. Giving everyone a try out of fear of losing them isn't practical at all, there needs to be balance & it has to be a case by case basis. That fear I'm sure played a small part in the club now paying a combined 250k/w to CHO & RLC.
Completely random, unrelated point. But having one of the best academies in the world while Barcelona drown under the inflated wages of old, "superstar" players with the club revolving around one dude to generate income is hilarious as balls.
