Well the openers made it through to tea. That ranks as a major achievement these days!

How's stat?!

Andy Zaltzman

Test Match Special statistician

We have seen seven new India batsmen in this game. Six of them have made cautious starts. Of those that faced at least 25 balls, Rohit Sharma had five runs, KL Rahul had four, Virat Kohli made seven and Ravindra Jadeja just one. Cheteshwar Pujara had nine off 23, while Ajinkya Rahane made one off 23.

By contrast, Rishabh Pant has 19 off 25 balls.

Sibley gone second ball after tea, poor dismissal.

That should pretty much see the end of Sibley..He got out stupidly like last test and now again. Brains of sawdust.

Prediction

Close of play 4 wickets down and Root on 60-70 with Anderson on night watch coming in

Seriously that's a bit of a concern. Hameed's taken literally 5 years to build his confidence back. That's got to seriously suck for the guy.

Pathetic bunch..Only Root Robinson and Anderson can be classed as any good.

Very impressed with Robinson, excellent broad replacement imo.

You gotta admire Sibley.he was quoted has saying he wants to score more "hundreds" for England. scored Sibley Squat since then. rather laughable to say the least.Mentally weak to get out like that two times in 3 innings,

Urghhh. Thinking about how Hameed must feel. I know how terrible it feels when you're in a bad patch of form, you get yourself all geed up to come in and bat... and then nerves strike, your technique and headspace desert you and you get a quacker.

And that's only in amateur cricket. The guy must feel absolutely wrecked right about now.

I dont know who England should pick. But its really time to move on from the likes of Sibley. Its not a matter of giving him chance after chance and more a realization hes simply not upto it.
Hes brainless takes forever to score. and plays it all nice and calmy and still gets out to ridiculous shots.

Better off with an aggressive opener, someone who will be a bit more proactive at the crease. Instead of just standing there in survival mode from the get go.

Everyone always says we have to move on from player x, but the simple fact is there isn't really anyone to bring in.

Those already in the team like Sibley, Pope etc. were picked because they had the best FC records.

The talent just isn't there at the moment.

The coaching doesnt help.. We had some really strong minded coaches ie Fletcher and Flower... We moved onto the namby pamby brigade.Bayliss and Silverwood.
The intent is not there from the off. Playing with the negative mind set.

we had Cook and now Root. We we were better under Hussain and Strauss.
The Indians were weak minded until they got Kohli and look at them now.

posted on 13/8/21

I refuse to listen to test match special now. Not with Cook there. Hes soooooo nice about everyone..
How about a bit of anger?? we saw that from Boycott and Willis when they commentated.

Not sure why Robinson was released and deemed not good enough.. if it was for they was he acted has a youngerster then fine. But if it was because they decided he wasnt good enough. just shows you how poor the judge of cricketer these county coaches are.
