I think bravery is erroneous, but ability is still out for judgement yes.

----------------------------------------------

He hasn't shown much bravery in attack at first team level though. You don't often see him bombing down the flank, taking players on on the outside, getting to the byline and whipping in dangerous crosses in the same manner he did at youth level.

He always seems to cut back or come inside onto his right foot which halts attacks. He's either been playing with restrain or he just can't translate that side of his game to senior level.

Regrettably I’d start AWB

Against City and Liverpool I would. Maybe Chelsea too. Against anyone else we'd be a better team with Trippier for me.

I didn’t see how attacking he was for the youth but the same probably applies as it does to Dalot, that it’s hard to show attacking consistency for a full back when in and out of the team and not building a partnership with the person in front. We can’t give up too early on these lads.

But having said that, if we buy someone of better quality, I’d fck em both off on loan tomorrow.

Where do this guy rank on a scale of RDD to Romano?

I hope we do end up getting him. But not for what Real is asking for especially with a year left.

Hope we can work something out.

Not getting the impression for Ole that we want really attacking full backs anyway. Especially with how we set up the midfield.

Bayern under Flick are the only team I can think of that played 4231 and had full backs playing really high up. But they were such a ridiculous attacking, pressing machine that it didn’t matter too much.

Mohamed Bouhafsi?

Obviously closer to Hafi tbh.

Almost close enough to boo hafi, tbh.

If Sancho does turn out to be the player we all hope he will be then it is fair to say we might get away with having AWB in the team.

However it's not only his attacking that I have issues with. He doesn't seem to be able to defend his back post well. Something he struggled with greatly last season.

Signing Wan-Bissaka gave me that impression.

I don’t have an issue with that, per se. Issue is AWB’s ability to build up from the back. I guess it makes sense to sign Trippier for that reason, even it he lacks the pace and ‘ball carrying’ that AWB does.

Having Varane and being able to squeeze up the pitch a bit more may help AWB, though. He wouldn’t have to carry the ball as far up the pitch to get it to the attackers. And with Sancho having the skills to carry it and dribble it becomes less of an issue leaving him more isolated against the opposition defence than with Greenwood.

Yes but they’ve tried to keep that quiet, for the sake of their wives.

I imagine if Haaland does stay at Dortmund this coming season we will 100% be in for him. Whether he decides to join us is another thing though.

Sancho and Ole probably go in our favour. Plus our ability to pay huge wages.

Raiola will no doubt probably put us off a little. And his Leeds roots won't help either.

Quite reassuring to know that Haaland and his dad met with Ole though before moving to Germany. They clearly have some respect for their fellow countryman.

Anyone else feel that Varane is gonna crash and burn and spend loads of time injured ? Bloody well hope not but my spidey sense is tingling.

Twitter rumours that Martial is being considered as part of a swap deal. Probably complete nonsense.

Still got a feeling we won’t get him.

Definitely feels like there's a sting coming in the Varane deal but that's probably due to the fact we have one big transfer let down every summer and we haven't had this year's yet.

Hopefully he is joining though. I fail to see how he can't massively improve us.

I think he’ll be okay on the injury front, but that he won’t make a massive improvement to our goals against column.

If this set piece coach is any good that would be a big difference, I think like a third of our goals against were from set pieces, or close to it.

posted on 25/7/21

I'm sure we were ranked 20th out of 20 on set
Piece goals conceded last season.

Good to see Ole and the management team have at least identified that as a problem area rather than putting a plaster over it.

Romano now reporting deal is getting close. Understand everyone’s reservations (I also think there’s a twist in this one), but when he reports it, you know it’s legitimate.

Not sure it’s the best use of £50m in my opinion (if we’re spending that on a CB), but at least we’re showing ambition to seriously improve the squad.
