Football/Pre Season

I was quite encouraged by what I say against Midjytland last week, given the squad is still well short......but sobering watching the game on Saturday albeit it was a friendly. To be at this stage with the qualifiers started and the league starting at the weekend with a defence like that is shocking from the club. I understand it's difficult the now to get players in and we do have a couple coming in this week but still. We are well short on quality and numbers at the back and I reckon we still need at least 6 first team ready players to come in the door.......not sure there's enough time for that though with only 5 weeks of the window left.

Abada looks a good signing, still very young but can see he is quality. I'm also very excited about Furuhashi....he looks brilliant. May take him a while to settle though....I hope he has good mental toughness because hes gonna need it. Major culture shock for him.

Worry is we are still to probably lose Eddy and Christie this window, 2 of our better players. Have a feeling we may struggle for a while tbh.

Still looking forward to getting back to the games though, I've yet to be successful in the ballot for a game but should get one for the next one.

I'm not sure I agree with you Zico.

I'm in no way detracting from Rangers achievements last season - they were easily the best team in the league and thoroughly deserved to be champions - their achievements were helped by the fact that the pandemic made already skint clubs even skinter, and they weren't able to invest in their squads.

I think this season will be even worse and we'll be seeing lots of clubs struggling to even fulfil fixtures in the early part of the season due to the requirement to isolate (given clubs have lots of younger players these days, they won't be fully vaccinated so therefore will have to sit out). The clubs just don't have the money to compete.

I suspect Rangers and Celtic will achieve another impressive points haul against diminished opposition. If either or both get into the Champions League group stages then that only escalates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You think Rangers will replicate conceding a record breaking 12 goals only..? No chance of that happening, none. Ffs Celtic still conceded double that in their invincible season.

You think Celtic will be as bad as they were last season, really?

I do agree with you that Covid had a massive bearing on last season and it will this season. Packed stadiums obviously have an affect on the teams, and that was missing. The financial repercussions for many teams are grim and I agree, they will struggle to field teams capable of a challenge.

Rangers are massive favourites for the title and according to some, Ange and Celtic will finish even futher behind than last time out.

Aye
Some Celtic fans
I don’t recall reading on here that will happen
If your signings work there’s no reason Celtic cannot win
If we retain most of our good players so can we

Tbh I think you are massive favourites, course I will caveat how both squads look come the end of the transfer windows. That we don't have a decent RB, LB, GK, LW CDM, and when Eddie goes CF makes me sad, and you cvnts happy as is only right 😢

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they replicate it. The standard of football I was watching was dreadful last season. That United team was significantly worse than the one that saw us get relegated imo yet we survived with relative comfort.

There were very few creative players in the league and very few teams who looked like they could play their way through an organised defence - hence why we kept so many clean sheets despite being honking (although Siegrist did have a terrific season).

A good organised Rangers (or Celtic) team should have no problems keeping clean sheets against the rest of the Premiership because the squads are so depleted and devoid of creativity.

If we somehow get through on Wednesday with a back 5 of Barkas, Ralston, Welsh, Murray and Taylor I’ll send a picture of my barse to admin and he can post on here.

Why would you punish us for a good thing? I should say it astounds me that we have the thon defence for a critical champs league qualifier but it really doesn't cause of those board cvnts 😡

Looks like Starfelt and Fuguashi will be in full training from Wednesday so should come into the fold for Saturday.

We need a right back in more than anything before Saturday.

Julien should be back for end of next month and I’m hoping Welsh will be fine with Starfelt next to him until then.

Left back and a striker also a must, left winger too.

Suspect we’ll see this on Wednesday

Barkas

Ralston
Welsh
Murray
Taylor

Soro
McGregor

Christie
Turnbull
Adaba

Edouard

Forrest is back which is a boost and Rogic also back gives us another option up top.

We’ve literally no other defenders

Exactly why I will not blame Ange.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't blame him but I wonder should he persist with this inverted defenders system if he doesn't have the players capable for in in our defence 🤔

Winning on Weds is huge. There's no way we'd get past PSV but it would guarantee us Europa League and take the pressure off.....I'd also imagine the cub would be more comfortable loosening the purse strings knowing there's guaranteed euro football and can also use that to attract players in.

We were the better team last week with the same defence so if we play well and more importantly take some of the many chances we create then I fancy us to do the job. It really is a huge game.

Need Edouard and McGregor to take their chances this time.

Btw, I’ve got concerns over Turnbull. He looked absolutely blowing after 50 mins on Tuesday. This constant press is killing him

Had some real quality moments on the ball but no use if he can’t keep going for 75-90 mins.

I know we badly need defenders but I really hope we get Lovric in, looks a player 👍
