I can't understand why he got loaned out by Sevilla last year if he's truly considered to be a player with great potential. He's 20, he's not exactly an academy style prospect. There must be a reason why he couldn't get in the side. Has anyone seen much of him at the Olympics?

Apparently he doesn't fit into their manager's plans. Saw him yday and he looks skinny. Needs to fill out but got good pace and energy. Tracked back too. One for the future.

Seville needed money, Gil didn’t fit the system. Gil is an out and out winger, not another inside forward that we seem to be overloaded with.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there is a sell on clause as he is rated as one of the top 5 youngsters in La Liga.

Remember how good Harry Kane was on loan.

Fairwell Eric Lamela. Have to admire his workrate and chithoussery but his final pass often let him down along with his fitness. Best of luck Coco.

In a way I'm kind of encouraged by just how much we've paid. £22m plus Lamela puts him at around £35m value at 20 years of age. He can't be a donkey. He just can't be. I don't think this is one of Paratici's gambles. This is one of those he was happy to pay a little more on to get the deal done. Sounds promising.

I'm not worried about his size either, as another poster suggested. The Premier League has changed. It's fast, sure, but it's not as brutal as it used to be. If Modric, the two Silva's for City and other slighter players can cope, then so can he.
