You only need one two fast defenders. Look at Italy's CB's who won the Euro's. Tiago won the CL with Chelsea.Godin was never blessed with pace.
Pace is a myth for defenders. It's having it up there which counts and experience in defence wins over pace every day.

To be fair we were actually quite forward thinking in getting Sanchez in and slowly bringing him through. Sadly he got worse after a promising start and now needs moving on.

Still can't belive Eric Dioreha and Crapinson Sanchez are still with us.
This means at least 1 new CB is coming in, working on a one out and one in basis.
Hopefully we see Lolrier, Lolchez and Lolloko departing soon also, though the lack of rumours surrounding these 3 clowns leaving is a worry.

Fair enough but my point still stands. Pace is not a fundamental requirement for a solid defender. Having a football IQ is just as important. I don't remember too many times Toby was skinned for pace and it ended up as a goal against us.
That whole Toby has lost pace argument is wafer thin.
Never mind anyway. Best of luck to him and I hope we buy adequate replacement(s).
Great player for us, he and Jan made the best Centre back pairing of my lifetime.
He could still have played for a couple of years for us but I think this is more about him getting another payday before returning back to Belgium to end his career.
sidenote: one of the most annoying things in football is when people call 32 year olds 'over the hill' or 'old warhorse'

Great defender but his lack of leadership really showed after Jan left. That experience just becomes old age if you can't help young players through games. Thanks n that but it's a good move for all concerned I think.

Let's be honest. Jan was hardly a great leader either. The whole squad lacks leaders. You have bluffers like Eric Dier pointing here, there and everywhere after Jan left. Kane has speech problems and Lloris seems frigid.
The only real leader for me in the squad is PEH.
