I can never quite understand how spending money made through improving a player and selling them on for a profit is good but... spending money made by decent commercial investments/deals designed to help the club is bad.

Because a lot of football fans are diiiiickheads that think that net spend is a thing, and that it shows how frugal they are, even though it doesn’t.
As long as the club is on a reasonably sound financial footing that's all I'm concerned about. Spending money on players is just spending no matter where the money comes from. It's how it's spent that concerns me most. We're looking like we're improving a bit in that respect so that's good.

Putting the right people in the right roles, that is what Ed failed to do. As soon as he got that right look what's happened, we actually have a sensible transfer strategy, excecuted professionally.
The recent fan unrest may have jolted the Glazers into life, Joel Glazer's interaction with fans may have had an effect, who knows.
What is unforgivable though is the mess the Glazers and Ed created in past seasons.
I am pleased we are finally getting our sheite together though. Now over to Ole to prove his worth with a trophy or two.

If we win things, 52. My point was as it stands. Sure, if we win things then some things involving transfers will be forgiven but not everything else though.
Good move for the lad. A lot less pressure at United with no expectations to win anything.
err, Ed has been a complete disaster in everything that he has done at the club apart from the thing he should have been concentrating on in the first place. Making money. And I wont believe he is going until he actually does and they slam the door behind him.
Now United have finally got an Edless, dedicated football recruitment and techical department in place underMurtough that seems to be working I think we will at last see the progression this Club has been crying out for ever since Fergie and Gill packed it in.
Might prove to be a good move for the kid. United have a long standing history of bringing through youngsters and giving them an opportunity in recent years. Liverpool have been doing the same though recently, maybe there was a better pathway involved at United, although it's likely to be for more money.
