Kind of thought we could maybe go a bit stronger by this point. No sign of Martial, for example. Defeats the purpose of friendlies when you aren't getting money from touring and are only getting a handful of your squad match fitness. At least we'll be sharp in the league cup

We can’t be the only side with barely any first teamers back yet surely?

Suppose we have a good share of England players.

Worried about Leeds though, they’ve got a fair few pre season games scheduled and less players away on internationals, also I imagine Bielsa is a proper ball buster in pre season. They’ll be flying at us on day 1 and if we’re rusty or trying to bed new signings in it could be a tough start to the season.

Yeah sometimes the ‘easier’ on paper fixtures aren’t the easy ones that early, differences in pre season make such a difference whether it’s one extra week training or an extra friendly or two with the whole team involved.

Last year our game vs Palace we looked like a Sunday league outfit compared to them fitness wise.
